Underclock your card and see if it still happens.
I was getting that same error on BC2 and BF3 when I had a KFA2 560Ti and underclocking it sorted it out. Turned out the card was dodgy and I got a 570 as a replacement.
Not saying it IS what is wrong but underclocking it can't hurt
I might give that a go next, thank you.
When it crashes, 100% usage is right there - could be related?

Randomly, just when I'm walking about. Can be after 30 seconds or 20 mins.

Is there anywhere to even activate or download them? There's nothing under the DLC tab in properties. Can't imagine the 2GB for the Augmented Edition Bonus Content is the DLC either... I mean, it's only a few guns or something isn't it?

Not sure what to think so far, in some ways reminds me of Mass Effect which isn't a bad thing however... feels very clumsy to play, just about everything seems to be more fiddly than it needs, looking around is often stuttery (seems to be CPU/disc IO lag rather than GPU lag) - just doesn't have the accessability of the first game and isn't as fluid to play as mass effect combat wise.
Not having any performance issues here, quite happy with it actually, maxed out at 1680x1050 on my 470 and e6300 @ 3.15, v-sync off and fps never drops below 30, usually it's 50+ and graphics are amazing in some areas. I particularly like the tesselation on the clothes, especially the leather coats with the realistic rippling leather look.
Only played just over an hour so far and taking it slowly exploring every nook and cranny and working out my playing style. I've gone for distance non-lethal which is so far pretty tough on the hardest difficulty. At one point in the first mission where I'm up against 5 guys in one room, can't seem to find a way to sneak past them and trying to take them down results in a quick death
I'll definitely be spending quite some time with this over the weekend

I just found out that you can auto loot the body/corpse by pressing E a second time 
There has been so many times when I have double clicked take all and it has took all on the first click, exited that screen and shot my weapon attracting all mobs
Still not got to a boss yet and I have played it for about 15 hours so far. Gotta love the non-linear goodness
