The point I mentioned with quick loops is so Dave did'nt have to there for hours to do a full check of stability.

If he is having major problems , the few loops with test 5 and * will show up any Major errors quickly , not a Full over nighter - but thats not where I'm aiming ATM.

We are trying to get a starting point for a little stability.

no you take me wrong i totally agree with that.another good thing to run is the windows based memtest as unfortunately max overclocks in memtest86 dont always carry forward into windows due to it being pretty much an unstable piece of monkey poo.

Concorde,

Those temps seem good. Got my rig on watercooling - which I'm glad I got sorted on my SocketA setup before upgrading to A64 otherwise I would have been bricking it with all this expensive new equipment being surrounded by water :D

Yeh Im amazed, they are the temps at 290x9 aswell 1.55V, pitty my winnie has this stupid wall buisness and ***** out at just under 2.5Ghz :(

Concorde

^^^ That's a shame because 300 x 9 would have been really nice.

I've got my RAM 1:1 at 305Mhz at the mo but I have to run 8x because my Winchester can't do 2.7Ghz :( Will be trying for more HTT later this week :)

Im having a small problem with my pc. When I go to restart my pc in windows it seems to get stuck where it would normally restart and go 'beep' where the bios writing starts up etc. To get around this problem I turn off the psu and then back on again, press the power button and it boots up no problems. It has only been doing this for the last couple of days but im not sure why it's just started? Anyone else had this problem?

Try upping all your voltages, CPU, LDT and chipset. Booted at 9C this morning no probs :D

Tried that. I dont have problems with cold boots. Once its booted and you go to restart again it gets all the way to 'Windows shutting down' the monitor turns off but it does not make its 'beep'?

Hey guys, I've just been overclocking my SD but my PWMIC is currently sitting at 52C and is showing up as red in SmartGuardian. It this bad? CPU is loading at 38C and chipset is at 37C but I'm worried about this PWM IC chip. Am I damaging my board?

that is the heatsink on the top right of your board which regulates your vdimm? and it is hot too touch so i have a fan cooling it and temps dropped by 20C

Yeah, but is this an OK temp? I will sort something out for it soon but its not going to die ar anything is it?

52c is a bit warm, DFI veterans generally recommend keeping it to around 45c at most.

See this thread for the exact location of the PWMIC chip and where the temp sensor is...

...and if you can somehow get a fan on it, even a small 80mm/60mm low profile one on it then that would be a good start.

I'm lucky with mine because I've got a Stacker Case and the tall cross-flow fan blows air across the right hand edge of the mobo when it's mounted in case - upright - just two inches away :)

Pants. Well I've got some fans lying around, I will have to hook one up to cool it. More tinkering. At least now my SD seems to actually prime for longer than a minute @ 2.75ghz. Neo2 clearly didn't like it.

Actually I think that's a MOSFET (the one at top right with Al heatsink). The PWM IC is an unsinked IC below that I believe. Anyway the fan's a good idea- mine never gets above about 35-40 with the 80mm fan thats blowing basically at the RAM.

EDIT Timko beat me to it ;)

Just got mine all up and running (no need for me to hide ricco ;)) - left it on the Jan BIOS and whacked in Windows as I've got 4 new TFTs to test before I can muck around with it properly. Not had a chance to o/c it yet, but had no probs at all getting it to run so Im happy - will have a few questions once I get the time (tidying its permanent abode ATM :p).

Only prob I had was the Stacker - great for cooling, just not the best build quality...

One quick question - are there drivers for the SI SATA controller for non-RAID? - the floppy I got is corrupt so cant use that :/. Also does anyone else have a spare unrecognised USB controller not associated with anything in Device Manager?

Cheers

the SAT drivers are in with the Nvidia chipset drivers, they will make it show as a removable storage device- thats normal.

As for the USB - did have, should go if you instal lthe drivers.

Can't say I had a problem with my stacker - just rem its designed modular so it can be easy swapped to BTX format, that does seem to reduce the rigidity of the rear a little.

I have to admit Ive only used the drivers that came on the CDs - no doubt there are much newer ones on the net - will trawl when I get the time to play with it...

Surprise regards the USB issue, as all the ports seem to be recognised elsewhere in Device Manager - I guess the newer nforce drivers will sort it aswell as SP2 (running on non-SP XP - will slipstream SP2 later)

I 'love' my black Stacker - its just silly things like, for some reason I can't install a 5.25 drive in the top bay as its too tight - whereas at the bottom its much looser. Tho this isnt relevant discussion in this thread - shame the FrontX 'just' has too short cables for it aswell...

Im gonna give it a week to bed down before releasing my SPAW - just hope it doesnt run away with the Venices and SDs around ;)

ps3ud0

Yes the later Nvidia drivers are better IMHO - so I would highly recomend you go get them. Just the offical btw.

I don't use SP2 - never have.

I would be grateful If anyone running an Ultra-D wouldn't mind having a deko at the bios chip and either posting or mail me the chip codes please :)
