****Official Doom 4 Thread****

I just can't play anything with a controller, that's why I have a PC, I'm <old school> keyboard and mouse only for me.

I'd be lethal with a controller if the gameplay was that you had to shoot randomly at your own feet or the sky but unfortunately no software house has filled this niche at the moment!

For me DOOM was the best game of 2016, still have a blast every now and again when you have that urge to just "shoot something in the face"

Basically me to a tea!
I've tried using a controller for games like JC3, GTAV etc but it feels like trying to play with my hands tied together behind my back and just makes me realise how much more freedom a M&K affords you.

In this game specifically where speed of movement is key, I would just get killed for fun even in wimp mode.

I'm still unsure weather to get this lol I have around £25 to spend in paypal and so far its the choice of this, titan fall 2 or rocket league... I hate choices lol

just seen the sales have ended :( so if I buy will have to try and find on a key site lol

If your still after the game its on sale atm for £9.99 on steam!

tempted to get it as well

Just started to play this, well i tried too, just can't get into it.

Must be getting old :p

Theres not really much to get into, the first 10 mins are pretty much what you get the entire game. You just move from one arena to the next, jumping around, shooting and collecting ammo. It's ok for a bit of shooty shooty fun for a while, but theres no substance there to get you invested in the story or characters (which is one of the plus points apparently..) and it doesn't have any horror element or atmosphere and just feels like an arena shooter with a horror theme to it. I had fun with it over a weekend, then never touched it again. I'm hoping the next game has a bit more to it.

I think you like similar horror games to me like Evil within and Resident evil, so I think Doom 3 might be more up your street if you haven't tried it. It still looks decent today, but I believe there are mods that tart it up as well. Much more of a horror game and feels very atmospheric.

Well done, you just explained the games Doom, Doom II and Doom 2016.

Yeah got all those, and enjoyed them, played through DOOM 3 again, not long back.

So? I explained why its pretty boring, just like the old dooms were after a while. They were only good at the time (even at the time I used to get bored after an hour or so) and we are now 20+ years on.

Have to say I almost completely disagree. It's really quite shocking in my opinion that 20-25 years after Doom and Half-Life near enough perfected it that we still get games where the general feel and gunplay is utter tosh. Too many games now feel the need to just shoehorn in content like RPG elements, story, fancy graphics without taking the time and care to make sure that the game itself is fun to play, that the basics are nailed on and that the level design is on point.
