*** Official Dota 2 Thread ***

Some good games last night at dreamhack, watched the first two of the finals and going to download the replay of the decider after the F1 (so don't spoit it for me!!). Valve have done a great job with being able to watch games live in the client.

Also still got 2 more invites if anyone wants.

Been playing this yesterday and today...NEVER have i played a more frustrating game to try and learn haha

Don't worry, once you have played about 50 - 100 games. You have a decent idea of what you need to do and dont do. Then for some reason the MM puts you with people who have never played a game in there life, so the frustrations goes from you learning the game to playing with randoms who are just learning to play!

You'll then enter the period of "why are my team mates doing that?" followed by "why did they buy that item?" and then "why did my team pick that hero with zero synergy?" :) Shoutout to the enemy drow who built an armlet in a game I played yesterday. I don't care if you go double aura (she ran a comp with a veng for the double ranged aura), I will still smack your face in if your team runs no CC - free 400hp toggle or not.

To the guy who asked about Sniper. If you enjoy playing him, definitely get Mask of Madness on him... Christ, he just stuns you out of the game when it's activated and it pretty much means a kill if you're attacking a squishy target (and use assassinate to finish them off).

Also, I've got like 4 invites ready to go... if you need one pop me a friend request at jamesjahu!

Big thanks to Vtec9k for the key :)

Had a good old blast last night, wow is there a lot to learn. Enjoying the sniper but struggling to take out other heroes with him. And still trying to work out the best equipment to buy

edit - ^ lol posted info I needed at the time I was posting. thanks, just the kind of info I was after.

Started playing this over the weekend. First time iv played this kind of style game. Its frustrating that its all about kiting if im honest.

Kiting melee heroes sure, but you always have options (for a melee this means Black King Bar or a Blink dagger typically) or counter picks like life stealer - it's a dynamic game. You'll learn the lay of the land as time goes on I promise, it will just take infinity time to master it all :)

I still have two keys as well.

MoM on sniper is fine as long as they don't have any blink/stealth whatsoever (I'd probably advise against it being a first item - you dont need lifesteal that early). If they do, as soon as you blow it they will jump you and you'll now be taking 30% more damage - you'll be dead before you can even re-act :( if you really want vamp then a helm of the dom into a very late game satanic is another choice. For attack speed - a cheeky Maelstrom gives both great atkspd and +dmg - both stats you need.

It's got barely anything to do with kiting, at least once you get decent at the game.

Still have 2 copies to give away, add me as a friend on Steam and ask for them.

OcUK In-House learning

If enough people are interested (ideally 8) we can set up inhouses where we have two captains (two more experienced dota players) helping newer people with the game whilst playing against each other as it is daunting as **** going to play solo when everyone is calling you a feeding faggot or abusing you in russian.

For this to work people would need to read material before hand to get an idea of what is goin to go on and pick a hero they would like to play before hand so they can get to grips before playing the in house so it goes smoothly, hopefully from this we could form some groups that play regularly and have some good games.

Ideally a captain will be able to help with decision making, item choices based on how the game is going, where to go and when, lane setups and general play if everyone has read up on the basics, maybe no one is interested on this but I continually see people pushed away due to the ****** community and learning curve so this could help.

Are you still interested in doing this Purdy?

I have been giving my keys away and people want to learn how to play. That ^^ seems like the best way to do it, if we could get a big group going.

I'd be happy to be a captain on one team.

Also we could try and get some in houses going. Only so many times I can solo queue at times would be nice to play with some ocukers!

Yeah unfortunately the interest seems limited in the thread and the main people we would get together are regulars.

Even if we can't get 10 we could at least get some people off reddit/teamliquid chat who need help/are willing too.

If you haven't added me on steam yet, do between now and saturday and I'll see what numbers we can come up with.

So far it'd be me+clearly+josh(I think he'll play) and you two guys.

Yea i'd join you guys for some inhouse games. Sorta hitting a wall learning on my own and some MM teams are so hopeless they are a writeoff from about 2 minutes in
