*** Official Dota 2 Thread ***

I think we should get some ocuk 5 stacks sorted.

Sick of playing pub. Enjoy stacking with people (even though I am a bit pap)

Ill even play support (Lion ... SHOCK)

I'd be up for that, wouldn't even mind constructive criticism. Don't really get any of that currently....

I love playing treant, veng, axe and windranger mainly, i need to get into playing some carries though as i do nothing but support with the guys i play with at the moment...they're all better than me so i don't really get much of a look in.

Don't think i've EVER played a hard carry lol.

EDIT: Don't know what you think of this but: http://steamcommunity.com/groups/OcUKDota OcUK group for dota players in the 2k-3k mmr region (i think those of us talking about playing as 5 are in that area? though anyone can join obviously) any way if anyone in that region fancies playing together join the group so we can see who we've got to play with :D

Aye perhaps, but no-one else in the thread is trying to pass themselves off as an game analyst in a $10m tournament.

I like Sheever, I just think they have her in a weird role that she's not suited for. She's not a confident broadcaster and while I'm sure her game knowledge is fine, it's nowhere near the level of the other analysts. Ergo, token female.

I agree they've got the panel all wrong, it should be 2GD then 2 or 3 ex-pros like Merlini and Draskyl. No need for whatiship to be there, he knows a lot less about Dota than Sheever so why aren't you targeting him?

Remember this isn't the main event yet. I have no doubt the panel will have all the big names for that (hell James didn't even do the first day) I'd never heard of whatiship or the other guy who has been on the panel occasionally before and neither have been that great. Bruno will no doubt be on the panel for the main show and that is going to be awesome :)

Draskyl has been on there quite a bit and Merlini has been casting but was also on the panel for a while.

The thing about carry vs. support is that having a skilled player on a support usually makes much more of a difference. Being a carry all comes down to your ability to last hit and decision making, i.e. knowing when to join fights or just to move somewhere else and carry on farming. One of the most frustrating things in pubs is when your safe lane is completely empty and you have a Spectre/Medusa/PA standing around in mid waiting for a fight to start rather than farming.

Good carries to start with are probably Sven, PA and Luna.

Relax mate, I like Sheever, I just thought it was weird to have her in an analyst role that she is unsuited for, rather than in a host or interviewer position that she seems to do well in. This is the flagship DOTA event and I just think that you'd want the best people in these roles. There's a host of ex-players and knocked out teams there that would be able to provide a more insightful game analysis.

I agree that there's been some other guys on there that don't seem well suited, I only mentioned her because she seems to be on there the most and the topic got bought up. As an aside, the white knighting is kinda cringey and more sexist than anything I've said.

As Shami says, I'm sure it'll change completely at the main event as it did last year, but I still think they could have done a better job in these playoffs given there's been close to a million people watching. ESL One did an amazing job recently on a fraction of the budget.

Does feel like Valve are experimenting with different combinations/setups this year. Will be interesting to see how they fine tune it for the main event starting.

Can any of you 4k+ pros explain to me any plus points in that final draft from C9 last night? Looked like a terrible combination of heroes with zero synergy to me...

Being a DOTA nub how long would i last in game before getting flamed? :)
Never played it since WCIII custom map

Mate I still consider myself a nub, and I've played like 100 hours or something. It's best if you can play with a mate, as then the two of you can lane together and at least if your chatting with them over Skype etc you can work together to hopefully get some enemy kills.

There were no particular plus points, they were going for loads of control heroes to try and shut down the Lycan, but they had no damage and DK had a ton of healing. Combine that with C9 having a disastrous first few minutes and DK realised they could just walk down mid and C9 couldn't stop them.

The draft was absolutely awful, they must not have been thinking straight after the long game 1, and having just come out of a BO3 with LGD.

This is what I did, found some good hero combos and laned with a friend. The one we started with was CM/Lina, but there are loads of decent lane combos.

Newbee just eat asian teams. Won $5 of rares on that game too.

Tempted to bet on the next game too, but betting on na'vi games is madness.

It was fairly predictable, Newbee underperformed in the group but in BO3's they are very dangerous. I hope Navi win this one, the Navi v IG game would probably be more exciting that Newbee vs IG

you about mate?

We are about to start a game with 3 of us if you fancied it?

Other guy is Ryuuboruz ex eHug player turned occasional co-caster. He's a lot better as an in game co-caster than he was on the desk.

Sigh Na'vi.

You could replace XBoct with a pub player at the moment and it would probably improve them. Xboct's hero pool at the moment is two heroes, centaur and razor. He just has so little impact on the game for someone getting free farm. Dendi is having to carry every game.

The draft was poor as well, offlane Puck is just so underwhelming, the wisp was pointless as well.

Na'vi have just seemed a bit lackluster generally this year. I could see them losing to Newbee and getting knocked out by C9.

Winter is a fantastic analyst though.
