I found it quite exciting to watch this, even as someone who doesn't play (but kinda wants to) and doesn't really understand all of what's going on. Some of the games seemed thrilling and I picked up various bits. I had no idea competitive gaming was so big and had such huge prize pools, though. o.o

TI is a bit of an exception when it comes to prize pools.
DAC top prize was $1.2m and I think even that is considered a lot. Others tend to be more $100,000 or less.

Ah, this seems more realistic and the sort of thing I was expecting. How come TI is so high?

Valve has a very clever crowd funding system through compendiums.

However with the introduction of Valve majors, larger prize pools will be around more often.

There's risky plays and then there's just really bad decisions.

They didn't have anything on the team to speed up the Rosh kill so it was super slow. Added to that they walked into the pit in full view of a ward, with virtually no vision of the enemy team. It was the sort of play you'd see in a pub. Doing it with a shaker and an AA on the enemy team too was just major league stupid. It's a shame, because a team no-one had heard of coming from the wildcard and winning the final would have been an awesome story, but they just seemed to choke.

On a related note, Reddit is going to be unbearable for the next six months with all of the Americans sniffing each others arses.

What an event overall, every day had so many sick plays that I could only dream of pulling off :)

Looking to start playing with a few people who don't mind someone that hasn't played much but really wants to if anyone plays regularly.

I'll play if you see me online, just drop me an invite though I play random days/hours.

I'm about 2.6k solo and about 2.8k team at the moment, rarely play ranked anymore, just getting on with getting better in unranked and expanding my hero pool.

Just wow!

They must have thought they were massively behind, I was watching on YouTube so didn't have access to the xp/networth graphs but that decision just seemed crazy. Even in the worst of worst pubs crazy Russians would even think it was a bad idea.

Disappointed with secret/s4. S4 drafts now right? Surprised he was picking razor for himself.

Still event was a million times better than last years final.

Doesn't seem like s4 was a good fit for Secret. He'll almost certainly be out in the upcoming shuffle.

Tournament overall was good, but I think TI3 was still the best finals.

Playing my first games for nearly 3 months. Lost 4 unranked games in a row xD then lost and won a ranked game, MMR remains the same!
