*** Official Dota 2 Thread ***

I'm seriously getting fed up with being matched into a fully russian team who refuse to work as a team, I have only English set as my language of choice but I rarely find English speaking people in my team

So do you guys still play? This thread seems a bit abandoned,

If you do I'm up for games most nights between 11pm-2am and I can sometimes play in the afternoon too,

I'm not the worlds best player and I'm still learning quite a bit (around 100 matches played) but I am always on voice comms and I play every day

Add my on steam (link in sig) if you're up for a few games

I still play. Try atleast 1/2 games a night. Never queue on EU East, just queue on EU West and US East and you get much better results. I also found if you let the search bar go above half when searching for a game your matchs can be really hit or miss.

Generally though I never play solo Q any more, I always try to have atleast someone else on my team (normally IPB on here) as two people working together a lot of the times can steer your team into winning.

I try to play 1 match a day, but been quite busy recently.

Ocuk chat channel is the place to be.

worth joining up with the ukdota and RPS (rock paper shotgun) channels to put together decent english speaking premades.

I'm usually on most nights for a couple of games. Trying to get my win rate up a bit so definately up for a stack with voice anytime.

Hit 50% win rate with 179 wins last night yay!

I play most nights, but my OS drive recently died and I am waiting for it to be RMA'd.

Me an Sad from here usually play most nights and have talked about getting a team together, not a serious team.

Just a group of 5 people who will try and get together maybe a few nights a week for games, beats having randoms on your team.

My friends play Lol, not Dota, but they are looking for a 5th man on their team.
Downloaded Lol, but Dota feels so much better for some reason, so I'll just stick to pub games. I'm getting slightly addicted to this game now im getting the hang of it, the only problems i'm having is:
People who don't work as a team (e.g. some guy goes down bot with 3 other people when we are telling him to go top, but he just won't)
Russians, i'm finding them everywhere :p
Long wait times for a game, I have no penalties but it still takes upwards of 5 mins sometimes
People abandon games far too frequently, loosing a team mate makes a big difference sometimes
and drop, how does the system work? All I've got is a chest and a common item, and I've played for abit now, recently i've been best in team and i've got no drops, or is it just random?

Drops depend on chance a lot of the time, the only time you are certain to get a drop is on leveling up. You should always get an item when you level up.

Recently I've been playing loads, last 2 weeks upto about 70hours played! Been very hit and miss with games recently. got a good group of 5 players I play with regularly and they are the good games.

I generally take Hard carry role within the team, But I've been having great fun solo laning with Lone Druid, the hero has so much to focus on reminds me of SC2 macro and I really enjoy it. Also people really struggle to do anything to him as they don't understand the counter to him and just attack a 3k hp bear :P

Anyone picked up the international 2013 compendium?

It's pretty cool where you can make predictions, pick a dreamteam, etc and of course 25% of the price goes directly into the prize pool!

In an attempt to avoid all the problems people have with the pub games, I simply don't play 'all pick'. That seems to be where all the bad players collate, plus you are always going to have people a) all picking carries, b) Being there because it has the shortest queues and c) people will all pick their best hero.
The other modes force you to learn new heroes, and as such have better players :p

I've been enjoying watching some tournaments, so picked it up. Made my guesses don't know anything about the east teams though. Hoping mousports make it through the qualifier.
Watching the curse invitational atm as well that's good only on at weekends so i can actually watch them, only a pound or so for a ticket.

Compendium is cool but, I barely have time to play the game let alone watch others play it!
