Good few heroes to try, thanks :)

Wasn't a real fan of Marian's when I tried her.

Thinking QoP or Weaver next, away for a week now though so no games for a while! :p

Ooh storm spirit looks good. Hopefully I'll get a decent chance to play when I'm home next weekend. My list to try are;

Weaver
Storm Spirit
Clinkz
QoP
Puck

Like Jakiro (2 headed dragon bloke) but don't like his lack of escape abilities so will try and get used to one of the above.

Cheers all :)

I've just started playing this.

Few games in... 10 wins, 15 or so losses.

I play with a regular team, and we're absolutely loving it... All completely new to MOBAs and so there's a LOT to learn.

I've read Welcome to DOTA... You Suck, and been watching a bit of Purge. Try to pick random, though there are definitely some 'fall-back-on' heroes for me already.

Any tips? Good places to start learning? Things you wish you knew?

I recently played Jakiro for the first time, and I really enjoyed playing him. Me and my mate (who played Kunka) made a great team and got a good fews kills between us. Looking forward to playing him more and more and hopefully I'll get to grips with how to get the best from him :)

Been working my way through the support heroes since it's always recommended for beginners. I can play the following heroes without getting to flustered and therefore able to contribute to the team a bit more:

Vengful Spirit, Crystal Maiden, Jakiro, KOTL, Lich, Lion, Tidehunter, Zeus, Lina, Windrunner, and Disruptor.

Disruptor is my favourite by far.

The following are support heroes i have only played once but could play much better now I know what their spells do.

Treant, Earthshaker, Leshrac. Probably another 50 or so games and then I can seriously think about playing carrys properly.

after more than 500 games of mostly random draft and captain mode I now found out that people in AP actually play much much better. Nobody knows how to play support in AP but every other role they play well, whereas CM and RD is full of people who not know how to carry, mid or anything else.

What's everyone's opinion of Lifestealer? He seems far to over powered if any competent player gets farm it's basically GG. 6 Seconds of magic immunity is just absolutely huge.

He's one of my favourite carries and really strong in the current state of the game. Skull Basher (into Abyssal) is extremely OP on him, if he locks somebody down and they're squishy they usually go down in a flash. If you're having a good laning phase... an early set of Phase Boots so you have something to close down the enemy heroes with is a good choice, so you can pop Open Wounds and almost guarantee yourself a kill. A support like Crystal Maiden, Venomancer or anybody with a solid targetable stun or long slow is good with Lifestealer.

He isn't too overpowered though, he can become really relevant in the game within about 30 minutes... Infest bombs (especially with heroes like Puck, Nyx Assassin, QoP... heroes with the ability to move around the map quickly, or stealthily) are a great way of picking off kills and initiating. His Rage means he's able to sit and take punishment for a few seconds, whilst he steals life from whoever to stay up... But there are far better late game carries than him. He doesn't go toe-to-toe too well with the best of them. If you're up against a Lifestealer, you just build Armour items instead of Health. As the more Health you have, the better he steals it from you.

Lone Druid is a poor example to send against a Naix. Naix will just eat the Bear and he will survive the fight. Send a Dragon Knight against him with Satanic, Blade Mail and Assault Cuirass (hopefully with a support holding Mekansm). And Naix will have a bad time. He just won't do enough physical damage to be able to sustain himself through the team fight... especially (and any competent carry would be) if he's targeting the Dragon Knight as he's the enemy teams carry, or at least one of the carries.

Sorry, I seem to have ranted a little about this! haha

Nice little kill I got against Bounty as Disruptor last night. Really starting to get a hang of how to utilise his skills effectively. I had just earlier placed the sentry so it was ideal to get the kill.

Yea I like him because he can be massively useful in a team fight without many items and there is also the chance I can be the initiator of a team fight by using glimpse correctly. Plus is there anything more funny that sending someone back to their fountain by using glimpse when they port in to protect a tower? :)

Haha that happened to me the other day. I ported in to defend a tower as Skeleton King. I noticed their disruptor was by himself and not backing off so I thought 'what a muppet, I'll throw a stun and then destroy him'. Nope, glimpsed straight back  :D

There's nothing better than having an opposing player think they've dodged your kinetic field, only to glimpse them back in :D He's also a very good harrasser early game. Definitely in my top 5 heroes

Yeah I played him for the first time the other day and had a great time. He's got some really useful skills and looks awesome. Will definitely be a hero I use again.

But he's no Dazzle.
