I had a game with sventura off here and his mates last night. Came up against a team with a name, badge and blinking flags like pros :eek:

So we proceeded to completely smash their pasty (that phrase is for you musty :D) and had them call GG and FF after about 21 minutes. Destroyed them in every single team fight, went 10/0 as Viper :p

They were pretty bad.

3 team fights we got all 5 of them in voids Chronos and team wiped. One time we got 4 of 5, they just didn't learn and with all that stun they should have had the edge if they set up right.

Not complaining though :p
 
Gone down 300 MMR. Basically about to come under 2k. I'm pretty sure I'm going to make a new account now as the game is not becoming fun. It's not the losing. It's the losing because of someone constantly disconnecting. Someone AFKing. Just the people talking like they are pro with the names iceiceice or some crap. It doesn't make me want to play better. Purdy wondered what I am doing down in this tier MMR and while I was happy being it if I am that skill, I'm not happy with the MMR system and don't think it works this low.
 
It doesn't work but don't say that out loud, no one will believe you.

I think it's broken I think a fair thing to do is every so many games ir a certain time let people get "re-ranked" and play the calibration again as it is verging on impossible to climb. But ho hum, I've stopped caring about mmr and I just enjoy the games as mmr is so broken it's a waste of time.

I've enjoyed the game a lot more since I stopped giving a **** though :)
 
mmr seems to work fine for me. I get matched with people who seem a similar skill level as me most of the time. It also really isn't a problem climbing mmr. If you are good enough you will be able to carry a lot of games.
 
But that's the thing murray your sitting over 3k/4k? mmr.

At 2k out of 10 games nearly half of those will be someone screwing up the game and it won't be just from someone not being great. It's basically sabotage. I wouldn't have thought that would happen in the mmr bracket you are at. Yeah if your good you might be able to carry the team, but if you're not that good then there is no way to improve. You are punished for not being able to solo carry which is very wrong in a team based game.

2k mmr is at the start of the match "I'm AFK, going to take a ****". No pause...

I like to take the game seriously in ranked which is why it blows my mind when stuff like that happens or when people fight over mid and then say they will feed. I'm taking a guess and say that it rarely happens at your MMR.

I guess I wouldn't care that I am 2k, so long as the experience wasn't worse than that of a 3k player. I watch others on twitch in the 3k/4k and other than sometimes someone flaming that's about as bad as it gets.
 
Yeah I can't comment on what the games are like at 2k mmr, I still think that mmr isn't a great representation of how good a player you are since its more about how good you are at carrying solo games and it doesn't help you improve as much as playing in 5 stacks and tryharding.


I mean I did get someone in my last game saying that game was over and it was gg after 10 minutes then we went on to win and after he said that he won it for his team while he was 1/2.

Out of interest what role are you playing in solo ranked? Off/Mid/Safe lane carry or support. Or do you just pick what the team requires?

Do you ever random your hero in ranked?

Do you have a few core heroes that you are using or are you basically playing a huge selection of any hero?
 
And I just got the same guy two games in a row. Both games he played properly for 10 minutes then sold all his items and started feeding the other team. Fun.

I will normally play what the team needs. If there's no support I will go support or if they pick 3 hard carrys I will try and even out with a support like hero for mek/arcanes etc as I believe 1 support buying all support items is stupid.

Any moaning I have done is not reflecting on team games. Only solo. We rarely play team ranked though because we normally play together for fun and not try hard.

There are heroes I know I am good at, some of these heroes I don't find so fun. Luna is a prime example. In unranked I random because I need to learn other heroes to play well against. For instance, bane, playing against him or with him on my team I get confused with his ulti and his grip? Or w/e the 2 are. I believe I think it's because of the animation. Anyway it helps to play the hero to play against the hero. However in my last 4 games I have won as brood and Nature. Basically rat dota. I do actually enjoy these heros. It's just trying to get the rest of your team to stay together and push a second lane and not get picked off. Because as soon as they do you get the pings coming out.

Sounds like you are still quite inexperienced. You really need to know what the enemy you are facing can do against you. Probably wouldn't random in rank, it's a sure fire way to get a hero that doesn't help the team, no matter how enticing that extra gold is.

Split pushing is something I have had trouble with, at our level of MMR I think it can put too much pressure on an inexperienced team. You cannot expect them to fight 4 vs 5. Although what you can do is push a lane and put pressure on a tower, this should hopefully force one or two too TP back to defend. This is when you rejoin your team and team fight this time with the advantage in your favor.

Personally I really want to get good at middle or offlane, those two positions don't rely on awful team mates and you can have a positive impact on the other lanes long as you don't feed :)

It's also worth being aware of the current meta because this can still filter its way down to the low MMR. You will see hero trends and play styles. The 5 man deathball is in full swing, I see this even at 2.5k MMR and it's horrible to stop if no-one is prepared.

If you are serious about climbing MMR, you might want to choose 3 or 4 high impact heroes that require little help snowball. Otherwise, play un-ranked with your friend/s and enjoy the game :)
 
Thought I would give solo mmr a go again.

Tinker screams a hissy to get mid, feeds one kill, doesn't report any missing so pudge quickly get to 5/0 by 7mins then Tinker ragequits.

Just had a game where someone literally did a mid or feed and kept calling out all the deaths people got.. I think it was angry lol

Dota is probably attracts the most socially inept retards in the history of gaming, its a shame that we have to put up with them and waste all this time or face going into low priority. Definitely needs to be a majority vote to GG the game.
 
Seems i play best with americans...I've always got EU west and US east servers ticked, tend to end up with russians during the day and americans late at night. Had some good successful solo ranked games at last.

Don't often play solo ranked, but got my points up a bit today. Along with a pretty sick bloodseeker game.
 
I had a really great Timbersaw game late on, first time I have played him in a non-bit and he's just as effective. Went 14/3/11 his burst damage combined with survivability is pretty sick.

I play a lot of east coast, tend to find it slightly better.
