Just out of interest, has anyone here ever actually scored a goal when the commentator has said "can't miss surely"?

Played some games this evening. Gone from div 9 to 7 in rivals. Didn't get beat which was nice. Mixed team up and have to say my biggest surprise is Harry maguire. He is actually really good for me, I have him with lisandro martinez and he wins everything and can pass which is nice. I got that callum Wilson card he is good too with more goals than games played. I dropped wan bissaka for llorente at rb which has helped too. I used to be a div 1/2 player but will be content in 4 I think.
I have had 89 Ruben Diaz in my club for ages now and I'm still not sure about slower CB's. The game seems to respect slower players more this year maybe I will need to try him.
I'm now in Div 4, so still fairly bad but the quality of opponent has increased significantly.
Thoughts on the game -
- Female players have been a great addition, something I was initially unsure about
- Playstyles have made a wider variety of players more useable, although the traditional meta remains
- Cutbacks need fixing as they are currently too powerful, same for finesse shots
- The 71 depth pressing seems to be an issue now, so will probably get patched too
- Defending is inconsistent as tackles often fail and attackers keep the ball
All in all it's good, but starting to get more frustrating against the tryhard players. My team is also behind the average, not had much luck and I'm not spending any money on packs, but it's good enough.

All I can do with the 71 depth stuff is say of you can't beat em join em! VVD is very good at cutting off the through ball on the break
Disagree with finesse shots as it’s player specific with the traits and creates other ways of breaking teams down. If you went down that route you could say shot power + trait needs a nerf too.
Everything else though completely agree. The 71 depth has to go and manual tackles need rewarding badly.

This morning I put Kounde (my most valuable player I think, despite his low rating) into an SBC by mistake. I'd been building the Hero SBC last night and put him in as a placeholder to see what ratings I needed as didn't have quite enough fodder I was prepared to submit). Forgot about it and finished up the SBC this morning without removing him
The most annoying factor is it completely messes up my team, because I was using the France chem for Griezman, Barca chem for de Jong/Rolfo/Mapi Leon, and La Liga chem for them an Courtois. I had a not amazing but perfectly happy with 88 rated 33 chem team. Plus, I was starting him at RB and then swapping him in game to CB, I don't really have another good RB option, so I've ended up having to change formation completely, team not as good and not even 33 chem.
Lesson learned I guess, never put top players in an SBC even if you intend to remove them. :/
So frustrating, I'm almost tempted to use it as an excuse to stop playing the game for a bit until I can easily pack a better replacement. Meh.

My thoughts exactly, although I wasn't unsure about females. women and playstyles have added a lot of variety, more viable options you can use. Playstyles make slower players less useless (e.g. CBs with Anticipate+), you can do proper dangerous crosses with Whipped Pass+. Additionally they make icons play much more like their real life counterparts, which is a massive win for some of the non-meta icons like pinging long passes with Scholes etc that you could never really do in older versions.

I'm playing a fairly wide 4-4-2 and was losing every game.
Set depth to 71 and changed defending from drop back to balanced and I've won 4 in a row. Fairly easily as well.

Seeing a lot of comments saying this is one of the worst FIFA’s in years, possibly ever.
Player AI movement is worse than FIFA’s that came out 5+ years ago. Higher divisions and weekend league is just switching it side to side until space opens for a run to the byline and a cutback and for reasons unknown, your center backs push forward past their attackers for an easy finish.
This isn’t just online comments either, friends who usually at least play it until Christmas are already done with it.
I’ve been dipping into some twitch streams to get a general consensus and the likes of Nick28T are getting slapped 6-0 etc on the regular as they refuse to play the meta. He was nearly as tilted as he used to be a few years back before he grew up and stopped screaming.

It's dreadful in my opinion - not even close to being a fun game!
I've just played a rivals game where I went 4-1 up with around 20 minutes to go - as soon as I scored my fourth every single one of my players became absolutely awful - couldn't make a 5 yard pass, never mind tackle a player!
He drew level with the last kick of the game having scored from 3 lucky rebounds.
Anyone that says this game doesn't have scripting is in cloud cuckoo land!

The reason for the side-to-side play is the stupid 71 depth.
It does an auto press and also some kind of overload ball side.
So you win the ball back and spread it to one wing, wait for the overload to kick in, then switch to the other wing which is free.
Just makes it hard to build anything down the middle with the press.

I’ve seen a lot of publicity over the last few days of the glitch where the ball can stick to your leg, or where you can pick the ball up, then just run around everyone and into the goal to score

It definitely is the worst FIFA in a really long time. Gameplay is horrible and it’s really hard to have fun online because of the auto press, just makes every game a dull sweat fest

I played it the 1st weekend it came out (pro clubs) and played around another 40 odd games after that. I'm happy I paid for it with an EA Pro monthly sub, so haven't been burnt too badly cost me £15 for the month to use it and I had early access.
I think it's the worst FIFA title I can remember also, but not really surprised the game is laser focused on selling packs and content to consumers and the gameplay is just there to justify better and better players to deal with the issues you think will be solved with a higher rated card.
Unfortunately PES is even worse, so UFL Football is the only game left I have to hope delivers something resembling the real thing in the coming years..
I remember thinking how realistic a football we'd have at this point in my life when I was playing on my PS1/2/ then Xbox/360
ultimate team has killed any hope of that unfortunately.If you play offline it's still a solid game, but most of the fun is in the pvp for me..

Thats been disabled so shouldn’t be happening anymore.
I would highly recommend doing the Alvarez SBC, guy is really good and feels special. Must be the high agility and aggression which does it.
finished weekend league, got the one you need 36 points for. Qualified for next weekends too.
Lots of messing with squads to find something i don't hate. Using Benzema who seems decent up top with evolutions alvarez. Using Kante to help link, he wins the ball back so well, unfortunately anything but a 2 yard pass he gives them it back though! I'm doing evolutions Reguillon at the moment he looks like he is going to be decent.
