*** Official Elder Scrolls MMO Thread ***

Not seeing how it's terrible? Not worth a sub though I'll agree but the gameplay is a ton better than pretty much everything bar TERA, even in it's dodgy state, because TAB target combat is awful. Content wise it'll have the most on launch from the sounds of it, best crafting system, actual end game content on launch... Not seeing how it's being panned as terrible when people bum RIFT & WOW lol!

It's terrible in as far as expectations are concerned. As has been stated throughout this thread, this is a run of the mill MMO as we've come to know them. While there's nothing inherently wrong with that, it's difficult to get excited about what is not much more than a rebranding of something that already exists, and has done for quite a while.

People don't like change.

Oh yeah fair enough, I get that. Suppose others have had more MMO than myself so I'm quite excited to get into one properly for the first time since WoW.

Yeah it's got nothing to do with change, that's the problem - there is not enough change from the other MMO's.

And really, if I have to do another rescue person quest where the guy is a 15 second run from the quest giver I'm going to scream. I mean, he's right over there on the other side of this field see him? Why do I have to trudge over to him and back again.

I just want a free roam sandbox MMO, like the old EQ but minus all the carp that came with it.

This game is truly poor, just played the stress test weekend, so no did not get far and the game may very well improve a lot, but it felt stale, slow and cheaply made.

....probably still buy it :(

Well I had fun with it, very limited gameplay 4 hours tops, would not sub but its OK.

edit - i should clarify why i would not pay, it felt dumbed down, like it was being prepped for console play. Nothing wrong with that, I just did not feel that would be long-term fun for me.

Eq was based upon MUD games and really hard.
I reached lev 28 after 3 months of gaming which was impressive then.
Level 50 was revered as Gods as it took such a time to play it due to it was hardcore.
The fun came with the hardcore as I had people texting me a year after giving them some stuff at level 1 as the hardness did breed community and none MMO have come close to EQ since 1999.
You cant do EQ the same way today but the gameplay and leveling needs to be hardcore and suited for today which would work just fine.
if its to easy people play it as a single player game and in EQ that was only for those playing Necro and even those players did group up fast and if you was an ass you didnt get a group due to everyone knew it within days.

I was level 10 in a day with eso, and felt like a single player game, dont need more of those I want an MMO that gives me a reason to stay and get that BP at level 50 that you die a million times and if lucky have a drop of it.
these easy reward MMO game stuff the kids asks for just sucks.

I know its a very old game but I wish someone would rebuild Neocron. That game had such a brilliant concept, I very rarely did quests (missions as they were called in the game). You would go around the world and just explore and kill the mobs you wanted. So many ways to get to max level without doing even 1 quest.

Get a vehicle and some friends and go and hunt mobs.
Become a droner.
Become a hacker.
Tradeskill to max level if you wanted.
Cave and sewer teams.
Just go out and solo different areas.
Or of course you can do quests.

The great thing is you could mix it up so you could choose how you wanted to get to max level.

Trouble is they never expanded on these ideas and the game is now mainly pvp. I have been waiting for years for a game to develop the same concept but every game just is based on quests to get to end game...no thanks

Awww Neocron. Struggling in the sewers with nothing but a rubbish dartgun to taking down mechs single handed and looting them of tech parts. Finding some reliable crafter to id and pull together all the parts. Ill always remember the first time I left the city, taking the underground to the city walls. My own luxury apartment. That was an awesome game (until they stuffed it).

Why did they feel the need to make a mmo out of Elder Scrolls, what made them so great is your the chosen one, your the hero, your the one exploring a long forgotten cave for the first time ect. With MMO's your just 1 of millions who have walked the same path you do. it just takes away from it all.

You don't read a book and suddenly think a group reading session will improve upon it!
rant over!

Sweep steak time :), will this become f2p quicker than the old republic or not?
