*****Official Fable 3 Thread*****

Although I posted earlier this game was great, after getting more hours in to it I kinda want to retract my statement.

Fable 2 was awesome, this is really starting to annoy me now, as a lot of the Fable 2 elements have gone, so I'm just going through the motions now... real shame as I was anxiously waiting for this game.

Anyone else experience crippling slow downs at times? The worst I have ever epxerienced in a xbox game thus far, it's REALLY annoying!

I noticed I can't play fetch with the dog and I miss the wheel you used to get when interacting with NPC's. You seem to have less choice on actions to perform now.

Is this with it installed to the HD?

I've not played it for long enough to really notice any slow down (only an hour if that) but I decided to install it to my HD after 5 mins of playing it as it was sending the drive so scatty trying to read the disc I thought it was going to break my console! lol :p

Yes you get slow down if you are installed to the hard drive.

There are also tons and tons of people losing their saves through various different ways, there are several quests that are bugged that if it happens you can't proceed, Jasper also becomes a 'mute' and you can see but not hear him speak for the rest of the game.

There are a lot of glitches and bugs, i'm not restarting until there is a patch.

People that have 20+ hour saves and are near the end of the game are losing their saves for reasons such as warping to bowerstone, and falling through the floor, and it auto saving and you can't get out of the loop. You are stuck falling through the air.

Great shame as I love Fable, and was starting to get into it.

Sad to see it go this way.

My main gripe is the choice system. I have yet to feel like I am truly free to wonder around...

Maybe too much responsibility for a game? Get's boring and tedious after a while.

I want to give it another shot... But unlike Fable II... I just don't feel inclined to as every time I want to just go off and explore, something else comes up and I can't... It is very annoying feel like I am constantly being nursed through everything.

Can explore all you like, you do not need to follow the main quests until such time you have nothing else to do, Fable 1 and 2 pushed you to the main quest just the same so I see not much difference in that area. Also there is plenty of actions you can do with NPC's, you just don't have them all to begin with, don't think any are missing from Fable II, just not in the wheel anymore.

I really didn’t like Fable 3 even though I have completed it. Fable 1 > Fable 2 > Fable 3.

The game is way too easy, I was only knocked down twice I think and only because I was not paying attention during my whole playtime.

The game requires some crazy amount of waiting/grinding near the end if you want to be 100% good.
Seriously, where are all the weapons/armour in this game? Previous games had such a good choice.

The only good moments were some few funny and unique quests/places.

Tell me bout it, I'm near the end and I have only found 2 swords to buy (not including the hero sword or any DLC weapons)? I assume there are better ones hidden in the world somewhere right?

Think i'm gonna put this on hold for the time being and wait for some patches to come out

+1. I've just run into a game-breaker where I've gotta follow matey boy to the docks, fighting my way through royal guard. I can't draw weapons or cast spells, I can't open chests, can't even vault down the jump that's along the path so I can't even run past everything to try getting to the end. Annoyingly it's saved right at the beginning of the mission and I can't travel anywhere else until it's done, so that's effectively game over unless they bring out a patch that works with saves.

Here my 2p's worth about Fable III not a great amount of detail but should get my opinion across. Open to c&c. Enjoy.

Story:
I must say was disapointed with the storyline which started off good and gradually got worse as the game progressed. It felt bitty like lots of short little stories thrown together to accomplish the main goal and just felt like the meaty part of the story was over once you completed I would say the first 2/3 of the main quest.

Side Quests:
The side quests/relationships etc seemed simplified and diluted from the last Fable, people were stupidly easy to befriend/love/marry and you had little or no control over how you interacted with them (I have danced with the majority of albion now) whatever happened to the "wheel of emotions" from the last game. The property ladder was ridiculously easy to get on with this iteration of Fable with little to no return. I think I have managed to buy pretty much every property available with little to no effort involved trying to gather funds.

Moral System:
The choice system starts off good with a rather harsh choice to make early on in the game which fills you with confidence that there will be some headscratching to do as the game progresses, however this is not the case. To me the choices seemed a bit too infrequent for the first 2/3 of the game then far too frequent for the final 1/3 whilst at the same time the decisions seemed to get more diluted and become more common sense choices as opposed to a harrowing moral dilemmas as the game went on. It also felt to me that the choices you made had little to no real bearing on the game apart from aesthetically on your character and what the seer prattles on about on the sporadic trips to the Road to Rule (or ruin depending on your opinion of the game).

Build Quality:
Its absolutely shocking! The crippling slow downs, randomly dissapearing crumb trail and screen tear/blur only compounds the bad points above and that is with the game installed to the HDD! Before I installed it the game didn't "slow down" as such it was just slow all the time with massive drops in frame rate and lots of screen tearing which may have been bearable if you could concentrate on playing the game over the noise of your xbox preparing for take off. On top of that the GFX are no better, if not worse (due to the above) than Fable II.

Conclusion:
Overall I must admit I did still play the game and complete it with a certain amount of enjoyment and I did try looking for the good points in the game but it would just be repeating a Fable II review less some. For the massive build up to the game and the standards set by the first two I am still dissapointed by the quality of what should be an "A" class game.

The storyline had me hooked for the first few hours but was a bit drab and disapointing. The choice system was created with good intentions but badly implemented and the build quality was well.........crap.

If a town hates you how do you make them like you again? I murdered everyone for an achievement, didn't plan on saving but walked out the area and it auto saved!

Guys, I have been resisting the temptation to buy this game since I spotted it in Morrisons on release day.
To me Fable 2 was ok, but I found the graphics and the overall polish to the game somewhat lacking...The graphics just seemed rather muddy and blurry, and character movement felt sluggish.
Are things better this time round? It seems not from reading the above

I completed Fable 3 this morning and have to say in enjoyed it (though far too easy)

Can anyone recommend some similar games?
