**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

The armour comes in 3 different tiers, one could label them as Light, Medium and Heavy. It confused me as well, so I installed this little mod:

Armor Tag Sorting by Chronos1172 - http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4878/?

It's been updated now I see and can either write out the different label for them or pick the one I using, +, ++, +++ to show what is what. A single + is for light, ++ for medium and +++ then for the Heavy armour. My guess is that your reinforced armour is a heavy armour and the right arm you found is medium, or might even be a light armour one.

Cookeh - The perk you thinking of is Cap Collector, at lvl 3 of the perk you can invest 500 caps in a Store.

Ah cheers mate! They dropped the ball in that one.

Is there an energy weapon that does more damage than the righteous authority? It seems on the low side?

Im level 30, not sure if im missing out on some better weapons?

Im 90% of the time using a rifle that does double damage when target at full health .308 round I think. Its pretty powerful (upgraded to gun rank 3, 60% rifle damage perk)but Ive been using it since about level 20 maybe. I was using Rightous Authority and infact still carry it but I feel like a change.

What are you using? Any easy to grab must have weapons for my level? I have about 7k caps.

I'm lvl 29, currently using:

  • Suppressed 10mm pistol (Originally used for close quarters sneakiness, but I'm getting tempted to ditch this based on my other weapons)
  • Suppressed combat shotgun (this thing is ridiculous btw, especially with the Sandman perk)
  • Suppressed Spray & Pray
  • Suppressed .50 cal hunting rifle fully modded for sniping and + 25% damage to supermutants ("The Sandman")
  • Also have a hardened automatic combat rifle that comes out when my sneaking goes ****-up, can't wait for gun-nut lvl 4 so I can stick a suppressor on there as well!

Edit - I have a +50% damage to robots hunting rifle as well, not sure which is the better option to use as my sniper rifle!

Along with those I'm carrying the Shishkebab (no idea why, never use melee) and the Righteous Authority (which I would use as a sniper rifle if I could silence it, but again I never really use it). Should really drop/sell those to free up some space :p

I wanted to set up a Recruitment Transmitter in Sanctuary but it won't let me attach a power wire. Got plenty of power and cable and even if I place it right next to a genny I can't connect a wire.

Hmm lets see, weapons wise, all fully modded.

The Deliverer - silenced 10mm, improved accuracy in vats and reduced action point cost.
Big Boy(shoots additional projectile)
Old Faithful(laser thing, double damage when npc is full health)
Plasma infused advanced assault rifle, 10 extra plasma damage or something
Relentless .50 cal sniper rifle, silenced (refills action points on crit)
The Last Minute, gauss gun, extra limb damage

Plus a load of other random fully modded guns for when I want something different. :)

(yeah, carry weight mod)

I recently got a R9 380X and have been suffering from bad stuttering when playing. I came across a Steam guide that suggested using iPresentInterval=0 which does indeed fix it. But the FPS are no longer capped and the game runs at the speed my FPS runs at meaning picking locks means I get though about 4 bobby pins before opening anything.

Has anyone else had this issue and got a better fix? I'm using the 15.11.1 beta drivers.

You need to force Vsync and/or use ENBoost to limit the FPS.

It's 0 by default but it does fix the stuttering. If there's another way to fix these issues I'll gladly go back to turning it off.

It is 1 by default, but you need to change it to 0 in potentially three different files. Stuttering in these games is often caused by fluctuating FPS so best keep it capped at 60 or so.

Having trouble to pick a side now:

The whole first part of the game is building up to hating the intitute, now that I know its my son, I'm lost which faction I should go for.

How do I know when to pick a side :

- I'm general of minutemen
- I'm member of Railroad.
- I'm still on the good side with institute ( but this may change if I do anything for railroad)
- I'm member of Brotherhood of Steel

Also a problem with Sanctuary still:
I sometimes lose population, when I hover over workshops in Sanctuary it has an exclamation mark and says 0 water food etc, but then I fast travel there, and I have more than 20 surplus food, 10+ surplus water, more than enough power, enough beds, etc...

Why does this happen ?

Companions:
Got maximum relations with piper and her perk

Got Cait quite high and done her quest, just a little bit more and some flirting and I get her perk too :).

Got Valentine quite high too, but only 4/10 Holotapes for his quest, annoying quest imho. So left him in Sanctuary for now.

Also since level 30 ish the game somehow got much easier, raider camps etc I just run around with a melee weapon killing people off (no power armor) :D.

Weapons I use:
Scoped Overseers Guardian with upgrades (automatic)
Double shot auto laser rifle (legendary ''shoots extra projectile'' like the Overseers Guardian)
Kremvh's Tooth (legendary Machette)
Some sniper legendary that has +50% dmg vs Mirelurks and Scorpions I believe.

Got full legendary armor too, all with the deep Pocketed enhancement, I can Carry 370 without power armor iirc :D.

^^ It will say at some point that "doing this will make you an enemy of X".

Turn the difficulty upto survival, its much more fun.

Assuming it's not a massive quest spoiler, when do I get to see medium and heavy armour pieces? I'm only see what appears to be light armour, or is there no visible difference?

EDIT: I understand it now.Do you simply find or buy sturdy armour etc, or can normal be upgraded to sturdy/heavy too?

You can upgrade armor but for better upgrades you'll need points in armorer perk, science for power armor

Snowdog are you sure you have enough power? last night I noticed that my Castle had 0 water. When I went over to see if the purifier was damaged/ destroyed it was offline. Had to build extra generator for it. By all means it should have had enough power. Only thing I could think of was that when at night the lights come on the game decided to cut off the purifier.

What have you used to make the lights come on at night?

Yes, I use them simple water hand pumps that provide 3 each.

because the teleporter to the insitute, I built it there
).

Thanks man! I installed the mod but regardless of which display option I pick, it doesn't work...

Well, it does work when looking at inventories while trading. That's not enough though, what did I do wrong?

Wait, it does work on new stuff but not on stuff that already was in my inventory prior to the mod...

Still finding it very hard to make caps in the game (compared to FO3 and FOVN), even with Scrounger perk. Need about 6k to buy the house in Diamond to stow my gear so it doesn't go AWOL and the unique gun sold at Vault 81. Reddit seems to indicate you can have success putting up additional water purifiers and selling the water at traders (or using in lieu of currency), anyone had success with this method?

I bought a house in Diamond city for 2000caps...

I didnt know about a unique gun in V81, will have to have a look in there.

122 hours on record and I haven't had to buy anything yet. I feel like I must be missing something. Haven't seen anything at a trader yet that I couldn't just loot off someone or find in a chest. Have 16k caps built up without using the fortune finder perk and have only spent the 2k on the house at DC.
