**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

I was going to play this again about a year ago until I heard about the update and thought I would wait. Will play this after BG3 or maybe together with it depending on how much BG3 hooks me.

Will defo install and check it out once it is out though.

Have you actually read the article? There is literally nothing more than a hotfix for the PC.

Just checked Steam, last time I played was Jul 2023, that's how long I've waited. :\

There's a new quest line coming for free to the Creation Club as well, along with some new camp building options, weapons, skins and power armor so is substantially more than just a hotifx.

Woooah, skins! Substantial indeed. I still don't see what it's providing that modders haven't done like 5 plus years ago

Hope the update doesn’t break all the mods

Almost certain it will break a lot of stuff, so if you dont want it to make sure you turn of auto updates in Steam and wait to see how bad it is.
As its been so long since the last update, I suspect a lot of the modders have moved on and not updating their mods so I would expect some mods to be completely dead.

Yeh I figured that would probably be the case.

I feel like I’ve done this before, but is it possible to install a game twice via steam? Wouldn’t mind keeping my currently heavily modded install but trying the update too (possibly by renaming the game folder so steam thinks its not installed?)

Yes it is, I've done exactly this on a few games as my daughter also uses my PC and loved to break some of my saved games  .
I Just create a seperate user on my Windows PC, log into your steam account and pick a different install location. I've not done it with FO4 though but dont see why it wouldnt work.
