**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

I'm a bit nonplussed about the new release..

What I liked about New Vegas was the fact that the opening was very different to fallout 3. Rather than starting in the vault again, nv starts out in the wasteland and the courior has been shot etc.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but fallout 4, from what I infer from the trailer, goes back to a similar opening to fallout 3 :-(

It seems all numbered releases have you start in the vault. Non-numbered ones don't, and are "side stories" so to speak.

So does anyone think they will ever do a fallout game pre nuke devastation. Like start off in a modern open world game then comes the nuke news u run and try to get in a vault then live in the vault for a bit then escape it to a wasteland and continue on from there, like a 3segment game starting pre nuke, during nuke and post nuke to witness all stages of a nuke war.

Let the countdown commence Steam has updated the timer its 6 days 1 hour for UK midnight on the 9th :D

12:01 for all regions whatever timezone your in I guess. Someone somewhere will no doubt use a VPN to unlock early !!

Fallout 4 starts pre-nuking. But its just a short intro to the game, like the vault bit at the start of Fallout 3.

So with all of my friends starting to get hyped for this game I'm getting a bit of a contact high.

Thing is, I've never really gotten along with Bethesda published games (I know!). It annoys me as I know their games such as Fallout and TES franchises are packed full to the brim of quality. I just never like the way they feel.

My friend who is a massive FO fan is saying this one should be the one I try as now the first person view actually feels like a FPS and you no longer have to use that targeting system thingy, VATS, is that what it was called in the previous ones?

Watching trailers the world seems incredibly created and I really don't want to miss out on potentially a great game. Is it worth diving in to this?

Well, if the VATS combat was one of the things stopping you from enjoying the previous games, then yea, this new one looks to be playable more as a typical FPS, though it's still not going to be amazing in that aspect, I dont think.

But yea, you really gotta elaborate why you didn't get on with the other games before we can answer that.
