**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

Think I'm about done with it now. Good game, but disappointing considering what it has come before it. 7/10.

I don't really feel the urge to play it again any time soon tbh.

I need help again! I had a terrible pickpocketing incident in Good Neighbour which meant the whole town started attacking me, basically I murdered everyone there apart from the quest characters that never die, does that mean I can never show my face there again?

I've got a weird problem where my FPS limits to half my refresh rate so its completely capped at 35FPS

Its an AMD card so no Adaptive Sync, its capped at 70 FPS to match my refresh rate but FO4 limits to 35FPS regardless of whether that's on or off

I have changed ipresent to 0 which apparently removes the 60FPS cap but this does nothing

If I don't run in Windowed Bordless I get a limit of 25FPS!

What the fluff is going on? I read into this for ages last night but cant find a fix, tested two other games which don't have this issue so its not my setup
Edit: ignore, I see you already did the iPresentInterval=

Edit2:
Did you change both the iPresentInterval= ? Theres one in fallout4.ini and again in fallout4prefs.ini

A little disappointed so far. Theres nothing wrong with the game, but it just isn't giving me that vibe yet!

Also having some real issues getting it set up right... I hoped my 8GB 390 (with a decent OC too) would be up to the task, but ultra 4K is totally unobtainable, high/medium 4K looks depressingly mediocre, and even 1080P ultra has dips! How?!

Really hope this gets sorted soon, the power of this GPU should be enough to max the game out... I can run graphically modded Skyrim maxxed out in 4K with 60FPS and this can't be much more demanding!

I've settled for a weird ultra/high/medium 1440P upscaled setup for now which runs OK and looks half decent...

I'm also using an AMD card and dropping shadow distance to medium made a massive difference for me (while keeping everything else on Ultra). I agree you should be able to run it maxed, but I'd try dropping that if you haven't already (and maybe you can put some of the other stuff you've lowered back up)

Still having trouble with my stealth/melee build.
I put quite a lot of points into STR and AGI, then put extra points into stealth, but I still seem to get spotted far too easily, compared to FO 3 and NV. :(

Also so far, I've not encountered a real variety in melee weapons, been using the same Sledge Hammer for ages.

So far I have seen shock batons, baseball bats, bits of wood, knives, machetes, sledge hammers, chinese swords, knuckles and boxing gloves.

Few unique ones/legendary ones too.

Stealth is a bit bugged though, I was in Lexington, entered the Lexington Apartments and raiders heard me (the normal sound they do then blaming it on jet etc), and I was in "stealth" mode. The thing is, they were like 4 stairs up, they shouldn't have heard anything.

I not used it but I posted this mod in the FO 4 Mod Thread. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=28874062#post28874062

Not sure if anyone finding the game to easy and sometimes "dumb", but this guy did and made a mod to improve the AI in the game. Added the first part of what it says on his Nexus page as well. Posted the mod incase it might be of use for someone around here. ;)

Arbitration - Gameplay Overhaul - Damage - Stealth - AI - Speed by JackArbiter

Better Combat AI, Increased Survival Difficulty Damage, Better Fall Damage, Increased Stealth Detect Distance, Longer Stealth Search Time, Unbroken Stealth Light Level, Increased Walk Speed (Global), Decreased Reload Speed (Global), Reduced Compass Radar Detection, Molotov Cocktails burn ppl to death instead of exploding ppl to death

Maybe that would suit you with your playing style ??

Edit: Can anyone tell me how I can find out what version of Fallout 4 I'm playing ?? There is a mod I would like to try but it says "This mod made for Fallout 4 v1.2.33.0 patch." and no clue how to check the version. :o
Edit 2: Never mind the above, found it. If anyone else wondering though once you start the game, go Settings then Display and it is down in the right hand corner of that box.

They are all kinda "meh" and no where near as modifiable as guns.

Even though I'm 20 hours in, I think I'm going to start again. Just not really feeling it with stealth, it's just sooo slow, having to use caps lock to even get near the targets. Just now I was trying to sneak into a Super Mutant base, wearing light muffled armour, with a synthetic right cameleon arm, at night and the distance they were seeing me from was silly.
Yeah, it is nice when you do finally 1 shot a Super Mutant with a sledge hammer, but the amount of time and effort you have to put into it, makes me just want to shot them.

Think I'm going to run a female heavy gunner. :p

I don't have to use Caps lock and can get right up to enemies without them hearing or even seeing me, not always though depends on their level but most

I think I ranked up Luck, Agility and Sneak but none of them are maxed out

Is it like Skyrim where you can do all the quests for all the factions or does making a choice lock some of them permanently? I wanna see the most content :)

Getting into it now, finally found some graphical settings that I'm happy with. 1440P upscaled to 2160P, TAA on, 4x AF, textures on ultra, shadow distance on medium, everything else on high, and with Stalker shaders installed. Steady 40 - 60FPS.

you are free to play all sides up to a certain point, eventually you have to pick a side, i've just decided to follow through wit the brotherhood, really enjoying it so far.

May I ask why no AF?

Sorry, AF on 4x, not off. :p

Is there a way to use the power armour station properly, like in the trailers/screenshots?

At the moment I just get out of it while standing under it....... :p

Press E on the power armor stand and it'll dock.

Nah it doesn't work... I tap E on the stand (I dont long press like normal) and the character just gets out of it as if I long pressed the button. :(

Get out of the power Armour roughly under the frame. Hover your cursor once out on the yellow frame and click the craft button, it will snap the power armour in line,

That works, but its the same as just getting out of it normally if you position it correctly. It just snaps the armour round to face the front. I thought there would be chains holding it up like in the stills, to indicate that its docked.
