**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

How do you get your settlement happier and get more people ?

Sanctuary is constantly going from 50 to 60 and back to 50 happiness, and from 6 to 7 to 6 people.

I have more than enough water, food, beds and defence, I have a working recruitment beacon, just cant seem to get more than 7 settlers there :(.

Also what does a scavenging station do ? I've assigned a settler to it, but no clue what it does.

Very quick question from someone who's only an hour into the game.
Is setting up all the stuff in Sanctury that the Concord survivors are asking for before heading out to explore the wasteland a good idea?

I ask as I really don't enjoy base-building and lots of crafting

I didn't bother and all is well.

Incase you not already checked, next to the quests there is a tab for settlements, check that and if there is a triangle next to Sanctuary, click on the name and see what is missing ? I'm not sure what I am doing really, I just build up defence, making sure it is higher then food and water together. Then as a new settler walks in I add more food and assign him to it, every 3rd I make a guard of. Seems to be working, have 12 now there milling around, and a brahmin ! lol

Up to you really, once all the small tasks that they ask you to do is done around Sanctuary, you can take Preston Garvey as a follower if you wish.

So I was walking around the brotherhood ship and my companion kept getting in my way when talking to people, bringing up the menu to give him orders and interrupting conversations which I couldn't repeat. Frustrated, I mashed the E button and ended up stealing some items off the counter from an NPC, needless to say things got a little bit messy......

Good job I saved before I went in there....

Anyone else having trouble hearing the distress signals on the radio? I activated a couple of them towers and listened to the broadcast, but I cant hear a word they're saying, even when I turn my volume up the noise increases and drowns out the voice.

It gets louder and clearer as you walk in the direction its coming from

Guys I've not got 1440p as an option in my Fallout graphics settings drop down menu, it goes straight from 1080p to 4k. Has anyone experienced this? I've Googled and not been able to find anything.

Just found a Gauss rifle with
422 damage!
Just one shotting everything :D

Nice, although now I know the damage to do it's going to be less exciting to find... :/

I just found
a gamma gun. Lots of damage, but seems to do next to nothing against Super Mutants; I presume they have resistance to radiation/energy weapons but I don't have the perk that shows weaknesses in VATS

I still don't get this food thing, unless it's bugged? Do crops in a settlement have to have a settler to tend to them? Have planted about 9 tato plants, mut fruit and corn, and after 10 hours real time, they're not growing any fruit. If I press e on them (no prompt) my character says "I need to assign someone to this".

Would not worry about it too much. The damage varies depending on the perks you have. The actual damage will vary based on perks / your build you have so your damage is likely to be different.
