**** Official Fallout 76 Thread ****

Was starting to enjoy it for a few hours yesterday, then the server disconnected and when I logged back in all of my fusion cores had disappeared from my Power Armor frame.....ffs!

Yeah, that's a thing now. An unannouced change in the first patch, maybe. You can't rely on storing fusion cores on a frame now. I think you should be able to because of course power armour would be designed with fusion core storage given how quickly they would be depleted in a war.

I've allocated about 100 of my 600 stash space to fusion cores. I have about 20 now. When I get above about 30, I'll stop collecting them for a while. I also carry 4-8 with me, usually. They're not particularly rare in my experience, even with server hoppers harvesting them. Maybe that's down to the time I tend to play being a slack time for players in the USA.

[..] I've not had the bottle to stand in a blast zone before a nuke lands :p. You take enough radiation in the area after the nuke has landed, so i can't imagine a good outcome.

In fact i've seen enough high-level players stand just outside the zone before it lands to assume you'll probably just get killed anyway.

It's an instakill right up to the edge of the blast zone. There's a visible blast wave that travels very rapidly from the detonation point and when that hits you it's fatal regardless of your level and what armour you have on. Which is realistic. What's not realistic is that the blast wave just disappears at the edge of the blast zone, but of course that's necessary for gameplay purposes.

Incidentally, nuking the prime fissure is an optional objective for the main quest. To complete the main quest, you just need to launch a nuke at any target. It's nuking the prime fissure that carries the recommendation of 8+ players because that produces a far worse result than nuking anywhere else. What comes out is so extreme that the presence of 3 or 4 L50 scorchbeasts is a trivial distraction during it. There are bloatflies so powerful that they're not trivial for a L60 player in X-01 power armour with a legendary weapon.

Stored: Addressed an exploit that could cause items in the Stored tab to become duplicated.

I'd class that as a bug, not an exploit, because it happens to many people regardless of what they do or don't do. Every time I log in I have more things in my stored tab. I was up to about 50 of each plant yesterday. I gave up on scrapping them after the first few times.

I bought this yesterday because somehow all the people complaining about it just made me want to play it more. Not quite sure how that worked.

Not played a lot so far - just made it to the overseers camp. Am I supposed to be able to pick it up? I don't seem to be able to.

Looks OK, but motion seems a little jerky. Not sure whether I'm getting low FPSs, although I shouldn't be really with a 1080Ti. Will have to check the setting today.

so now being able to play ultrawide full screen with ultra settings has massively improved my enjoyment of this game! getting a smooth 70fps and able to get on with quests now.

Ha! So did I. They say any news is good news. I'm having a blast, a part from stuttering. I have since updated my drivers so I'll see if that does any good. So far I have also not been able to exit the game without it crashing. I have not played a Fallout game since Fallout 3, so I'm quite happy. Some of the controls are a bit fiddly but nothing a half intelligent person can't over come *snigger*.

Have they implemented a proper PC control scheme yet? E.g. separate melee & grenade keys and got rid of the stupid console weapon wheel so you can use the mouse wheel properly?

The weapon wheel is there, but i don't see why you can't assign different grenades to different number keys...

So far I have also not been able to exit the game without it crashing.

That doesn't sound quite right. There have been a couple of bugs where it hangs loading.

Do you exit straight to desktop? Does it still crash if you exit to menu and then exit to desktop? Might be worth verifying your game files as well.

I so love being able to turn off depth of field. Much nicer to play like that and a FOV of around 100. Happy with the fixes/additions put in place.

Turning DOF off though exposes how low the draw distance is you can see the streaming textures pop in the background all the time its best left on if that bothers you.

@Angilion
I bought a PA mod yesterday in Whitesprings Bunke for an Extra Bright PA Helmet Headlamp it makes it a lot brighter indoors. The patch also made it a bit better as well. One thing which really annoys me is it appears once you use certain PA mods which cost a lot of credits they disappear forever it seems & are one time use only

My jerky motion has been solved by changing setting from borderless window to fullscreen. Runs very smooth now.

It does however mean that when it crashes when I quite to desktop (every time so far, just like bushmins above) I can't find a way to close it down fully without restarting the computer. Can't get task manager to come to the front. I'll try the suggestion of quitting to menu first, and then desktop.

I worked out my CAMP misunderstanding too - hadn't realised you had to have your pipboy up before the 'z' key would work.

Had my first encounter with another player. Waved hello, and then got repeatedly smacked in the back of the head while I used a workshop. Charming. Pointless too as we were both level 2.

Also, I had failed to even spot there was a separate melee and grenade button! Please don't tell me that was around for previous Fallout games and I've been needlessly selecting the grenade first before trying to throw for years?

Crashes if I quit directly in game or from the main menu. I was looking about for others who had the same problem, I think I stumbled on the offical forum where others were having the same problem. Looks like it might have been something to do with the new patch and looking at getting a hotfix.
