**** Official Fallout 76 Thread ****

I bought this yesterday because somehow all the people complaining about it just made me want to play it more. Not quite sure how that worked.

Not played a lot so far - just made it to the overseers camp. Am I supposed to be able to pick it up? I don't seem to be able to.

No, you're not supposed to be able to pick it up. You can only pick up your own camp (which you picked up on the way out of Vault 76). The overseer's camp has workbenches you can use and a stash box you can loot for some supplies and information (including a holotape for your first quest).

Looks OK, but motion seems a little jerky. Not sure whether I'm getting low FPSs, although I shouldn't be really with a 1080Ti. Will have to check the setting today.

There are severe server-side issues that frequently cause lag. Lag spikes of several seconds aren't that unusual. This happens regardless of your PC. For example, Oxhorn recently spent almost US$8000 on a ludicrously overpowered gaming PC as that's a key thing for his job. He still has performance issues with FO76. Goodness knows what would happen if the game wasn't so unpopular.

Have they implemented a proper PC control scheme yet? E.g. separate melee & grenade keys and got rid of the stupid console weapon wheel so you can use the mouse wheel properly?

No. They've fixed a couple of glaring bugs (e.g. some parts of the Atom shop being inaccessible with a mouse) but that's it. There's no indication that they are ever going to implement a proper PC control scheme as there is no indication that they give a damn about it.
@Angilion

I bought a PA mod yesterday in Whitesprings Bunke for an Extra Bright PA Helmet Headlamp it makes it a lot brighter indoors. The patch also made it a bit better as well. One thing which really annoys me is it appears once you use certain PA mods which cost a lot of credits they disappear forever it seems & are one time use only

I installed a mod to make the standard power armour headlamps give a much bigger volume of light. That works much better than just making the tiny volume of light brighter.

Since the update from yesterday on my two gaming systems, it crashes when exiting, others on Bethesda forums are saying the same

It's always crashed on exit for me, even before the first update. Quit to main menu works, quit to desktop causes a crash. Hangs for a few seconds then comes up with the standard Windows "Program has stopped responding" error box. Irritating, but not gamebreaking.

I noticed blue stash boxes here and there. Are these mine to use and if so are they universal so I can use anyone anywhere and get my items?

It depends on how they are labelled, but most of them will be labelled "My Stash" and are universal. There's one of those in every train station and every Red Rocket fuel station. You will encounter a few labelled "Overseer's Stash". They're not linked with your stash and anything you put in there will disappear after a while. Those stashes are primarily for a quest line and also to provide you with some possibly useful supplies.

Yeah I've not had a smooth gaming experience tonight. A couple of times early on when joining worlds it stuck loading, left it for 5 mins before killing the game. Sometimes I had server lag, and one time playing with Tom and campsy I got disconnected. Then to top it all off, when leaving the game it hung and I had to kill it again.
Saw you online earlier tried to join but it just hung forever loading gave up for now it seems to be having loading issues! Earned enough Atoms to buy the White USA PA earlier ;)

Gah! I had a go at my first powering up a power station quest, got lost as I hadn't been there before, didn't know what needed repairing and had 3 subquest markers that didn't point to anything specific, figured it out and got going on the quest with enough time to spare to do a full repair...and got stuck in scenery with 3 little repairs left to complete the full repair. Nothing to be done apart from quitting, so no quest reward. 10s fix with the console, no hope without it.

Since the last patch, my game now crashes twice every time I quit to desktop. Crash...wait...not responding window pops up...click to close program...wait...not responding window pops up again, click to close program, finally closes. Load times seem to be even more ridiculously long now, at least a minute and sometimes over 2 minutes. And it's still unstable - I got disconnected twice today and had the controls disabled for a few seconds half a dozen times.

Ah did you manage to get on at all?

Glad to see i'm not the only one with these problems.

@ Semple hit & miss got on at times then it quit or lagged badly. A lot of these problems seem to be around the Whitesprings area its not a good idea to save near there at all right now. Since the last patch it seems very unstable.

@Angilion
There is one Power Station quest which involves fixing a lot of pipes & other machinery. Its not something easy to do Solo the enemies who spawn are very high lvl takes almost 40 mins to do the mission due to how many items you need to fix or repair. I am also getting times where I get totally stuck in the scenery and have to quit no way to move anymore. Yesterday found someone else PA Repair Station in Whitesprings when I tried to exit my PA I could not return to it & it got stuck inside their PA Repair Station so I thought I had lost my PA as had to quit (when I returned I got it back).
That PA Superlight mod I bought at Whitesprings Bunker has gone missing it seems you can only use them until you change them they are not perm mods at all. I bought another yesterday for PA X01 called Red Tactical Helmet Light its very very bright & applies a superbright red glow to interiors

So many serious bugs popping up right now some cause serious gameplay time loses  At least Bethesda separated PC from consoles so the maintenance they get today does not affect PC as console maintenance takes about 6 hours vs PC is only 2. Hopefully they have given PC separate servers but stability is very poor right now especially around Whitesprings the latency is severe its not even possible to cross the golf course without server disconnects & disabled controls.

Buying PA mods with credits is very poorly conceived if you lose them after you change PA or swap to another mod they are not perm it seems!

Ah, that's exactly where i ran into problems. Fell off a cliff right near it when i was walking over to it, and then it hung when trying to respawn me near it to go and pick up my junk.

I have noticed that a couple of players have built their bases on whitesprings, and have set them up with lots of turrets due to the number of ghouls that spawn there. I suspect this might be causing a lot of lag in the area.

How do these mods work? I've bought a few, but after hearing they're one-time use, i've not yet added them.

I'm assuming that you can only add one mod to each PA component, and then if you remove/replace it with another, then it's consumed? Do mods have a condition, and degrade based on the health of the armour component?

Mods have no condition you just add them then they appear to vanish if you swap for another mod!

What if the component breaks? Does the mod remain intact?

Also what happens if you swap the component out for a different PA piece, does the mod go with it, or gets lost at that point?

I should have probably just bought some cheap ones to try out :D.

I can’t seem to find any plans to build level 3 4 or 5 guns even though I’ve spent 5 perk points on gunsmith.

Weapons break pretty quickly even with the luck perk at 3 perk points which gives chance to greatly repair weapons when you hit the enemy.

Read somewhere that the high level gun plans stop spawning after level 44 (I’m 51) which seems crazy to me.

It seems that many if not all plans have level ranges invisibly associated with them and that Bethesda have assigned those ranges in ways that don't seem to make any sense.

You have a tiny chance of learning weapon plans from scrapping a weapon of that type, but I'm not sure what the limits are on that, if any. You can definitely do so from scrapping lower tier guns, but who knows if you can do so from scrapping higher tier guns? Bethesda loves mushrooming its customers almost as much as it loves bugs and nonsensical game design choices. For example...make a game where crafting plans are a crucial part of the game and make it impossible for a player to know whether or not they're already learned a plan without reading it again and make buying plans far too expensive to do so unless you're sure you want it and don't already know it. Why do that? It makes no sense at all unless Bethesda are deliberately trying to annoy their own customers just for lols.

As for weapons breaking, the only suggestion I can add is to take the "Fix It Good" perk, swap it in when you repair your weapons and swap it out again afterwards. It's useless in general play, but it's very useful when repairing anything because it increases its condition to double what it normally is and thus doubles the amount it can be used before breaking.

@AWPC had a good bit of exploring tonight. I really need to throw out / sell a lot of stuff, I kept getting overencumbered to the point I couldn't even wear my power armour. Then when we were exploring those mines and I kept picking up missiles, that just really pushed me over the weight limit. :D
