****Official Fallout New Vegas Thread****

Just ran into my first Deathclaw. All I can say is RIP Quarry Workers of Sloan. Also had my first run in with the Legion in nipton. Damn, they're some right evil so and so's. Trying to make my way to the Strip but my character is still a weakling so it's going to take a lot of effort.

Run around instead! You can get there pretty much avoiding anything hostile.

There seems to be a lot more to Vegas than Fo3. The back story better in Fo3 but i,m feeling that Vegas is a better game so far. I,m just at level 17 with a good few hours playing.

I just started playing this last night, only just helped the first town with the bandit problem but it already seems like a better, crisper, more colourful version of FO3.
I can definitely see me 100% 'ing the gamerscore on this one.

For those playing on hardcore, how are you finding it? I'm getting this in the next few days and wondering whether to play it on hardcore.

I managed to complete the find the item quest after blowing the place up.

How?? Once in the cave i cant get out any way but back where i entered!

I find it no more of a challenge to be honest, the whole dehydration/hunger/lack of sleep thing can be a bit annoying as it lowers your stats if you dont keep yourself in check. The ammo weight isnt a problem for me as i only really use a couple of guns so dont bother collecting ammo i dont need.

The most difficult thing i found about it though was that stimpaks dont heal your crippled limbs, you need a doctor or a doctors bag to heal them which at the start of the game was very difficult, its fine now as i have a good supply. Buy them every chance you get!

You know, you'll all laugh at the noob I am.. but using VATS you can target more the one foe at a time, and also target more then one body part..

I've been playing using VATS and target a single foe and a single body part, firing, entering VATS again, target, shoot etc.. I've been killed so many times doing this, until I realised you can queue up shots... Wow, that makes it a whole lot easier.. I'm a complete idiot with this game, but i'm learning.

Granted, its all based on this XP system so its not all queue up the shots, its limited, but it sure as hell helps as single shot, fire, VATS, single target, fire etc was taking ages.. I thought something was wrong...

and, you can play in a FPS mode, that helps as well.. lol learning so much, excellent game. Its certainly not a walk in the park, a good challange. Well worth the £36 I paid for it.. :p

Hasn't caused me too much bother really. I just boosted by strength to 7 at the start to make sure I could carry lots of stuff and since you can turn most animal meats into steak at a campfire you shouldn't ever run out of food. Just be sure to have a few bottles of water to hand or be prepared to gulp a few mouthfulls out of someones toilet :p

I thought it would be a bit more 'bushtucker man' to be honest. Learning which plants are poisonous, cutting open cacti for water etc. You can't even fill empty soda bottles from a trough to take with you.

Whooops :p It's quite handy being able to do multiple shots in different areas. If I'm in a bind sometimes using VATS to shoot the weapon out of their handy then a headshot straight after, if need be finish them off with the iron sight.

If you use VATS a lot, get the Grim Reaper perk when you get a chance, refills your AP if you sucessfully kill a target in VATS.

Yes, lol it has made the game a tad better for me. I realised last night that aiming for their hand holding the gun and then a headshot was so much more effective then trying to hit them in the head first time around... As the headshot doesn't mean a one shot kill, so if they're disarmed you can then not worry about being shot by them, just need to dodge melee attacks or go in for hand to hand..

I'll look out for the grim reaper perk... How do I get perks? I'll read up on it, is that when you level up, as I remember seeing something like a list and I selected lady killer at the time.. Didn't understand it.. :p

Perks are given to you every 2 levels, they vary depending on your stats and level so i may be offered ones you arent etc, just have a read of the descriptions and see which one you like the look of e.g you use rifles a lot so you might want to pick one that gives you greater VATS accuracy or something.
