*** Official FIFA 11 Thread ***

The green bit is composure, the bit after that is power.Don't press any direction until you've set the composure and power. Then as your player is running up hold the direction you want. There is an invisible aiming reticule that starts in the centre of the goal. As you hold the direction this moves towards the area of the goal you are aiming at. If you hold that direction too long then it speeds up and you can miss the goal.

In the arena dribble into the box then press down on the dpad. You can practice penalties with the Reticule visible (press LT). It gets a lot easier once you see how fast\slow the reticule moves.

Loving the demo of this, it was already a definite purchase for me but now I'm looking forward to it even more. The most noticeable differences for me are that matches seem a lot more physical now, and it's actually possible to score from headers now. Can't wait for the 1st October, though I've got Reach to keep me going until then :)

It's always been possible to score from headers.

I agree, I could never win headers in 10, defenders all seemed too powerful and the attackers didn't make runs across them. Still not sure how to keep headers down though, there's no guide in the game/manual.

Really? Compared to Fifa '09, it was incredibly difficult to score headers in 10. Then WC2010 I found it even harder. It's noticeably easier to jostle for the ball when it's in the air and get your player in front of the defender to get to the cross in this demo.

On 09 you could press the button to header well in advance of the ball getting to the player. In 10, you had to time it so that you pressed the shoot button just before the ball got to your player. If you get the timing right you can pull off some great bullet headers, but it takes some practice and is difficult after getting used to how they worked in 09. Also just tap (or double tap) the shoot button, otherwise they tend to go over.

I didn't mean in terms of connecting with the header, it was more that in 10 I felt the defenders were much harder to beat to the ball because it didn't feel like you had full control of the players in the box once you'd hit the cross button. In 11 it just feels much easier to run in front of the marker to get to a near post header or drop to the back post to get to a deep cross.

Ah, ok. I used to hold LT\L2 and push my player in front of the defender. Also I think if you hold LT and move the right stick that would move the players as they were waiting for the cross, but I never really used that technique.

The new penalty system is superb, I'm used to it from the World Cup game, but even when you are used to it, nothing is guaranteed (like it was before)!

Yeah, especially as I swear it wasn't in 09 then it was in 10

Nothing more annoying than menu lag.

You are spot on with that as I've played 09 then 10 then WC in a row recently .... a lot of things went backwards from 09 to 10 like pitch textures and sharpeness of the players and graphics in general.

Still can't believe EA use so little of the screen real estate space available to them, it's like they think it's good cramming everything into about 45% of the screen and the rest is unused.

Menas player stats are spread over pages and you have to scroll down to see stuff like Shot Power and other important stats when trying to sign players etc.

Brought this up on EA Feedback forums after 10 continued with same menu system as 09, looks like they listened .......... Not ! :D

So do i shoot when the the bar is in the green zone? I did that and most went over or past the post? or was it me over pointing the analoge stick too far to the side (if that makes sence)

Didnt play the World cup version.

Yeah, I've scored bags of headers in 10.
