*** Official FIFA 11 Thread ***

i was gonna spend all my coins on packs hoping to get someone worth 400K+ and then re-building from scratch.

had 200K, first pack i get 96 etoo worth around 50K, so i thought sod it, ill just build a team around him.

4-5-1 formation

it is terrible, good for attacking, but the defence opens up all the time, tried going defensive with it and it was even worse, i had zero attacking options and my defense got hammered.

thinking of selling this team, and 86 etoo and making a 4-2-2-2 serie A again, it seems to be my best formation. its like playing with 6 defenders and 4 strikers so i can defend very well and attack very well.

4-5-1 is like playing with 2 defenders, 7 midfielders and 1 striker.

4-1-2-1-2 is just too expensive.
 
Any ideas on improvements here, was thinking Messi or Ronaldo again, but Messi wouldn't be great in 4-4-2, I guess I'm also open to 4-3-3, 4-1-2-1-2, 4-3-2-1 and 4-3-1-2

Not sure who it is best to really throw over the edge! Usually have Cavani come on at halftime and work some magic.

Really doesn't have to stay La Liga, happy to mix it up as long as chemistry stays over 95.

Budget is about 500k (550k to you, Sonny, as PS3 seems more expensive!).
 
Argh just played some kid who had the likes of villa, lampard, kaka, maicon, puyol and others world class. Had that 96 spanish manager with the correct formation. An unbelievable team with 100 chemistry and Im winning 6-0 with about 20 minutes left. Really happy with this as this is the final and with that team I was expecting to get beat.

Guess what happens? EA ****ing servers is what happened. Kicks me out the game, puts me down as a loss and back to square one. Going to admit I am really gutted about that. Not just the fact it was the final and a nice 1000+ coins gone to waste but the face it affects my DNF etc and makes it a loss. One word = ****take :(

Not much of an improvement but what about a sub keeper? Just incase

Only place I would look to improve would be my left wing which like you said Ronaldo or Messi
 
I sent the kid a message telling him what happened and said what a way for him to win the final and he replyed thats the luckiest thing thats happened to him on fifa and it shows that you should never quit as you never no what will happen. Kinda wish he had :( haha oh well onto the next one I suppose

500K on xbox is more like 750K on ps3, maybe more lol.

as for helping you, i dont like 442 and i dont know how the players work in that formation, so i would say sell and go to something with at least 1 CDM and 4 defenders.

you need a formation with at least 1 CDM, 2 is even better, and 4 at the back is the right amount. 5 is too many and 3 not enough.

this 4-5-1 im doing has a CM, which i thought would be the same as a CDM due to the way he is positioned back, but he is a CM and plays around the center circle.

if anyone has nay advice on making a 2 teams with 200K

Pandev --------- Menez/Lavezzi

De Rossi --------- Cambiasso

De Ceglie ---- UP Silva ---- Chiellini ---- Santon

--------- Buffon ----------

this will leave me with 70K spare for a second team, which has to be just as good. prices are more expensive on ps3 so lets say 45K on xbox, has to be one of the decent players too, i dont want a crap team lol

im guessing i could ditch UP etoo and save 60K and use milito there and have miccoli as backup or just use 1 team and buy fitness cards lol.

Think my next team will be 4-2-2-2, 4-2-3-1 is good but it lacks numbers on the counter sometimes. It's a hassle to change though because the formation cards are 3x the price of 4-2-3-1 so will end up rebuying everyone I guess or switching leagues.

I love the trading part of this game almost as much as the playing bit though. :o
 
I'm contemplating going to 4-2-2-2 instead of 4-1-2-1-2, as my 3 attacking players seem overwhelmed at times when playing against a defensive team. When using 4-2-2-2, how far wide do the two attacking midfielders go? Are they quite central or more like wingers?

they are wingers, but it does leave a huge hole in the middle of the park.

this is the only downside to the formation, dont pull your CDM's forward when the other person has the ball, just wait and ride out the attack.

like i said before its like having 6 defenders and 4 attackers.

if you use them this way then it is effective, be patient and theres no way they can pass or run through 6 defenders, you always end up with the ball, patience is key. only press the player if hes in your half.

I'm confused right now, wanted 4-1-2-2 but miss winger, 4-3-3 I miss 2 CM's, and 4-4-2 somehow leaves the defence very open and out of position :(

Would you guys mix up La Liga with other stuff? Reyes & Navas are letting me down a lot in terms of stamina, especially Navas (With that first name, I expect mircales!) and he gets knocked off the ball like a small child crossing the M1!

Any other tips on who I could bring in from foreign lands? :D
 
are there NO decent LBs in Serie A?

Decided to bastardise my Inter squad with some other Serie A players, LM/RM weren't hacking it and Eto'o severely underimpressed me.

Milito and UP Cavani up top for now, sticking with the 4-4-2.

Krasic and Vargas in on RM and LM respectively. Just need a decent LB now.

What sorta ratings/stats you after? I'm excited about playing with Krasic
