Official FIFA 23 Thread

Having made a half decent team and played 50 or so more Rivals games, I quite like this FIFA so far. Of course there are many flaws and problems, but nothing game breaking as yet.

This is in large part due to AcceleRATE - next gen only. If people don't know, this means traditionally slower players are actually useable as they can hit a high sprint speed, although need a longer run up. This is also affected by chem styles too, so you can modify the chem to change their sprint style.

I'm currently using Harry Kane at striker to test this out, and it works. Once through, nobody can really catch him. Pogba is also very quick, Kroos, etc, and a lot of centre backs like Laporte, all now useable.

It's also worth learning the Trivela shot (outside of the foot) - holding L2.
I agree, I am enjoying it as well although I was reluctant to say that, as Andy says sings when you're winning :p

I think a year out of Fifa was good for my overall enjoyment of the game to be honest. Although I reserve the right to change my mind when the patches start to drop

Edit Haaland 440K  I paid 200k - time to cash in?

is it just me or is the transfer market absolutely screwed on the app and web app.

half the time you bid and it pops up saying the bidding data has been updated constantly meaning people constantly outbid you and you can't respond with a counter bid.

How did you even get 200k so quickly?!

Also, driven low pass at the byline, my players just kick it out or hit the side netting, passing is on assisted, have they just nerfed this way of scoring or am I doing something wrong?

I’m trying so hard to persevere ps5 version and it’s by far the worst game fifa has made in my opinion. It’s so bad and I’m having a hard time adapting to it:( division 5 will be the death of me.

Division 6 here and I am honestly really enjoying it. I can say that more confidently now I have a lost a few as well :p

Of course, there is the usual ******** that happens in game.

I’m back on new gen and up to div 6. General consensus is that people are enjoying it which is a change. I’m still using a 20k team!

Anyone know the cheapest way to get this other than £60 off rainforest?

I want to play but I begrudge paying £60 for a mostly team updated game

i wouldn't describe the latest version as just squad changes. quite a lot of changes seem to have been made. I got mine through the PS store using cd keys for the credit.

Packed mid Lahm yesterday, OTW dybala today. Packed OTW nunez last week so side is coming along nice. new chem is quite good now i'm getting familiar with it.

https://www.futbin.com/23/squad/758920 That's my current side. Erikson scores some cracking goals and with pace not being so important he does a good job.

I find Harry Kane a beast this time around, he's strong, scores most of the goals in my team, in and out the box, i think because he's been pretty rubbish in previous years he's cheap for what he is.

My main gripes are:

-Agility needs a buff on every player, I dislike the fact it feels delayed and you stop running yet they carry on

-rebounds from tackles and interceptions are rife again this year

-passing is terrible

-people are ratting 5atb this early on, that tells me enough unfortunately.

Majority of the game isn’t bad but it needs some heavy tweaking

I've been playing UT team, first time in many years. Game play seems ok but from memory it tends to deteriorate quickly :p. I'm in Div 5 right now, went through Div 6 only losing 1 game, so will see how long that continues for. I've been very lucky with untradeable cards so far - Have Rashford, Diaz (CB), Dembele and Benzema, so a great attacking line-up for "free". Surprisingly found Benzema to be very good, he's averaging a goal per game regardless of his speed. Dembele is my favourite player so far though. Currently I'm playing a mixture of 433, 352 and sometimes 4231 when I need more defensive options.

Don't like that the Div Rivals pack rewards no longer include coins, unless you go untradeable. Stingy from EA as always. I also find it amusing that they've focused on getting slide tackle skid marks to stay on the pitch, rather than actual game mechanics. Another excuse to use the word "dynamic" in their advertising though I suppose. :D

I would say passing is very eractic from how I remember it. Players with 90 passing etc pinging passes in the wrong direction or really short etc. Collisions seems slightly off too.

On Twitter I see a lot of people saying that this year it's more like playing real football and last year was too skill move based.
I had to check the date of the tweets as I'm sure people were saying the same thing last year (at the start).

In fact I'm sure it's the same every year. People like it more because it's more like real football and then as it goes on people start to dislike it more, usually blaming the patches (it couldn't possibly be the difference going from 84 rated teams to 94 rated teams that "breaks" mechanics).

I skipped Fifa 22 and haven't got 23 yet, in part as I don't have a next gen console. But I'm enjoying having free time.
New chem system seems interesting but I'd imagine it'll be harder to figure things out in your head as players aren't isolated to only affecting the people around them.

Out of interest, how does FUT champs work now? It's very different to how I remember it. I have enough points to join, it says you have 6 attempts this season, which I assume in the 30-40 days? Can you just repeatably play all 6 entries, theoretically in a week? Or do you qualify from this to a bigger FUT champs tourney?

I've not qualified yet on this fifa but on last fifa you had so many attempts a season, it allows you to fail a couple of times over the space of the season.. To be honest though i cannot remember not qualifying as it was a low amount of points needed to go through to the finals.
Once in the finals it was a case of get as many points as you can, as you get points for loosing as well some people just give away their games for the minimum prize.
I'll try and find time to qualify tonight or tomorrow and then play my games in a day. Not many games as there used to be, used to be 40 games a few years back and it seemed a bit overkill.

You need to qualify each week for the weekend league. Once you have 1250 points you need to get 4 (?) wins from 10 games to qualify then you have 20 games over the weekend to win as many as you can. Rinse and repeat each weekend. That’s what I think it is anyway

Thanks guys. :)

I think my biggest gripe with the game is the incosnistent passing, the more you play the more you notice it. Also, the way very good dribblers will sort of pause rather than collect the ball and move instantly etc. Happens to both players in the match, so it balances out but it's still poo lol. :p
