Official FIFA 23 Thread

Got a few more PL TOTS over the weekend, did that Crafting Objective, so had 20 8x Premier League player packs, got Odegaard and Trippier from them and Guimares from the 11x 81+ Premier League player pack

Up to 8 now, and have to say, some of them are very underwhelming. Odegaard, Zinchenko, Ramsdale and Tripper are pretty pants. Saka is....ok? However, Martinelli is brilliant for me, love his dribbling. Saliba is an absolute beast at CB, no idea how he's not valued more. Guimares has been great too, even replaced prime Matthaus with him at CDM. The Mitoma card from the objective is insanely good as well on the ball, finishing not so much, but great on the wing to get the ball in the box

I still want Rashford!

Yeah, I'm not good enough at FUT Champs to get the really good rewards either so my chances are even more limited :( Seen quite a few people get him from their reward PP's
FUT Champs are hit and miss with rewards tbh reguardless of rank you have achieved :(

In the end I got quite a few PL TOTS but not many of the big boys.
Kane, De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Saka, Mitoma, Paulinha, Zinchenko, Ramsdale, Allisson, Joelinton, Watkins. Could have really done with a CB like Dias, Varane or Saliba.

My 92 rated TOTW De Bruyne can finally hang up his boots, I got him fairly soon after I started playing in November iirc.

One issue is I've now switched to 4-4-2 to accommodate my new signings and struggling to adapt a bit. I think KDB and Bernardo just don't offer enough protection in the middle, as much as I've enjoyed Saka's all-round game I might have to look at switching back to something more compact like 4-3-1-2 with Keane on stay back

Very much the lower end of the PL TOTS for me - I think the best I got was 93 rated Martinelli!

Not sure my Bundesliga experience is going to be much better either, I went for the pack instead of Desailly and got 92-rated Kolo Muani and 90-rated Schlotterbeck - not certain how these stack up but I'm pretty sure they are the lower end players!

I think I've finally given up on this.
usually get the 11- 14 wins, at least 11 with 4-5 games to go.
This weekend so far won the first one, and lost the next 7. It's just unplayable, every player just feels like they're turning in slow motion, and the same with passing. It's just impossible to build an attack, and then people just spam lofted through constantly, 70% fail but there's always one where your defender just gets outmuscled.

This game is so bad since TOTS, everything is overwhelmingly biased towards pace, the high press is ridiculous and so many high rated players are now useless because of it. Just a chore to play.

Seems to be only 95 rated kane that out paces defenders currently am sure very soon they will nerf him

I was pondering the other day if anything could be done to reduce the bias towards pace. I don't think it is specific to TOTS though it's always been the key attribute.
Possibly what's needed is defenders to have better positioning and general awareness to cut out certain runs, but that's hard to program.

You can have legendary defenders like Puyol that are effectively redundant because nobody wants to play with 75 pace defending against forwards with >90 pace.

Yeah pace seems to make so many good cards useless. Strikers for example, so many good cards, yet if they are below 90 pace, it's almost not worth entertaining

yep there's just too many cards the same now. Just same stats with different name / league. Then you have the top cards that you never pack, and even then they don't feel 'special'

When I came back to FIFA and started Ultimate Team this was the thing that surprised me, like basically you had dozens of players all rated in the 90s regardless of whether they were actually top players or not.
I realised however it's the only way they can keep the game fresh and keep people grinding away, buying points etc, they need to slowly ramp up the power curve throughout the cycle and the only way they can do that is via inflating the ratings of a variety of players and then imposing restrictions to encourage use of a range of different leagues. Personally I still quite like it overall, it does help maintain my interest if there's always a new set of objectives on the horizon, always another SBC to target etc.

If FIFA was literally a case of standard Gold/Silver/Bronze cards plus a smattering of Icons/Heroes I'd probably get bored of playing with the same team for months on end.

I'm laughably bad at this game! :D

Currently 0-6 in the FUT weekend thing - I play 20 mins or so and usually have some good chances where the other keeper pulls off a string of unbelievable saves and then they meander up the pitch and score the simplest of goals!

I've had so many one-on-one's with the likes of Mbappe and Neymar and just missed them all I'm losing the will to live!

The annoying thing is that quitting doesn't count the game toward the stupid objectives!
