***Official Final Fantasy XIV Thead***

I cannot believe how hard it is to download this thing :(

What the hell I mean surely it should have just been a download off our server or something. Majority of the time my client "downloader" is uploading....

I might just see tonight if I can find a client with rapidshare links or something.
 
my windows decided to update and restart last night whilst asleep so the download didnt complete :( not sure i can be bothered
 
For those still getting slow download speeds, go to the start menu and look for the Final Fantasy XIV config application. Go to general, then network, and set the UPnP to "Use" rather than "Auto". Then make sure the port displayed there is forwarded properly on your router.

Speeds should pick up :) I'm getting roughly 100k/s now, which is not great, but at least it's moving!!

On windows 7, go to C:\Users\yourname\MyDocuments\MyGames\FinalFantasy\......

Little bit more I cant remember off the top of my head, but in there, just browse through folders until you come to downloads, then there is a folder of letters and numbers, and inside there is a metainfo which contains the torrent file.

On the wrong pc atm, so cant get the exact file path, but once you get into the my games you shouldnt have trouble finding it.
 
Just poped home for lunch and my downloader is at 10% :(

I looked at the downloader and I am uploading more than I am downloading.

This is shocking
 
My client crashed overnight again, so only lasted about 30 mins after I went to bed. Flying this morning though! 550 kb/s, 10 minutes to go. Obviously people are downloading it that aren't using netlimiter thankfully :P

Yeah I was uploading at 50kb/s all night and downloading at 8. Brilliant, did crash too but meh, 92% done now.
 
well I did as suggested above using a bit torrent software. As soon as I did that it was fine speeds went up to 400kbs which is a lot better than using the FF client. So ive left that and will see how its doing when I get home.

No point really, downloading at 30kb/sec now, will be done in an hour :o

It's not open yet, 6pm I think.

Also unsure if I'm allowed, since my account name on here and the beta site are the same if someone reports it and it's actually got an NDA i'll get spanked with the ban hammer.
 
Yea I mean it is Alpha we are testing not Beta. I would guess there is an NDA in place. So unless you google and find some piccys I doubt many will be posted up on here.

That said I hope that my client has finished downloading by the time I get home :(

My download picked up seriously this morning around 5-7am went up to a constant 300kb/s and its all finished and ready to go which is nice :)
 
well it seemed for me using an external torrent program worked a treat :)

Its all downloaded and ready to rock. Just gotta wait till the flood gates opened.

Meanwhile I am listening to the music from the login page ! Man it is so chilled and beautiful. Final Fantasy always ALWAYS get me with their music. It really is magic in motion.
 
I'm still having problems with the dev site though, i can login to the website but soon as i navigate to anywhere it tells me im logged out and to log back in. I try to login and it says incorrect password for that username. Annoying as i can't change any of my account details or anything.
 
Tried another browser? (assuming maybe you're on Firefox, then go IE8 a go).. as logging in, then navigating to another page and getting logged out sounds like it could be cookie related.
