Instead of crashing out they have a thing where you can rewind time and then play on and avoid the crash. I think you're limited to the amount of time or the number of times you can do it though. Sounds a bit daft to me though.

Same with Grid and Dirt. Just set a harder difficulty and you won't be able to. You will appreciate it though when you make a mistake ;)

no failures and no telemetry? WTF?

No replay system sucks too. I used to like watching races on GP3. Say if i crashed out with 10 laps to go i would carry on watching the race. This just boots you out?

And i heard they was going for a Sim game, yet i keep hearing arcade mentioned lately. Why the change?

Because it is an arcade game..!! Its gird with F1 cars. I too would watch the end of the race if I crash out in GP4, its something I liked to do, even more so if I'm in the thick of a championship... Watching the end of the race when I'd stuffed it into the gravel was a way to see how the race unfolded. Was actually quite cool. Something GP3 and GP4 got well right.

I also used to use the replays to watch other drivers to learn the track and watch the lines they used... Proved quite useful for shaving a few seconds of a lap time if I was struggling... GP4 is a pure sim that you can tailor to be a bit more arcade like if you want it..

F1 2010 is looking to be a acrade, with a few sim bits bolted on.. It'll be a good game provided you take it for what it is... Grid on steriods..!! lol

I don't get why they wouldn't have failures because they have brake and engine temps. They cant just be so that you have to turn the engine down to save it or something without the chance of it failing. :S

EDIT: Ok. The engine can lose power, but not blow up.

Seriously, are you trolling?

What would have been "bad" about having the option to turn failures ON/OFF?

If Geoff Crammond plays this, I think he will be sick in his mouth.

to be fair, hardcore racers who play rFactor and iRacing will share this statement..

this is a game to appeal to the masses... I agree, the feature should be on /off but I guess codemasters decided that most don't want it, so couldn't be bothered, or didn't have the time to put it in..

anyhow get the feeling this'll be a game where half the features missing means F1 2011 will have 'some' of them and we'll end up forking out £39.99 or whatever every year for the next 10 years before we get something that matches at the very least Grand Prix 4... lol

Still, I'm looking forward to it, I'm sure despite the arcade style it'll still be a total blast to play... Still buying it, regardless of the faults that really points towards making this more of an arcade game, not a true to form F1 sim..

Shame, you have to ask though.. EA sports give us Fifa and NHL etc and I'm fairly sure they are full on sports games with all the rules....

Codemasters should have at least give players all the rules of F1.

this means formation laps, end of lap parc, podium, correct penalties, safety car and all the rest, but still keep the driving easy enough for a casual gamer..

Missed a trick, this feels half ass baked F1 game, still better then nothing.. :)

I think you mean made up rules/penalties to suit, this is the FIA we are talking about, anything but consistant :p

Im in two minds about this, on the one hand it'll be awesome to have a proper F1 game but i've been playing iracing/rfactor/lfs recently/still do and feel the handling will be a big let down for me. I noticed it's up on steam now, any idea on price?

Well they did have Ant working with them. But apparently they have done something to the handling at the last minute. No idea why the Steam price isn't showing yet, but it is still £19 on shopto.net.

There are penalties in, and like you say, they can't be any more inconsistant than the FIA!

Apparently the damage model has been introduced now and scale with difficulty. Hopefully the reviews will tell us more.

Steam price will probably be £35, but they will also probably do a pre-order offer like normal that will bring it down to £30. They still need to update the page and make the wish-list work, so i guess when they sort those out they will add a price etc.

They had Adrian Sutil playing it at Gamescom the other week and apparently when he was using the racing wheel which a few small adjustments to his cars setup he said it felt very close to what his car actual feels like. He was very good as well and very fast!

I find that hard to believe, any proof? Why spend months and months refining something to change it all at the last moment...

Its true. There is an interview from Gamescom saying they just managed to get in a physics update ready for release.

Thinking i'm going to cancel my pre-order after reading the last few posts and watching those interviews.

Seem's to me they are leaving a lot of important(for me) stuff out, and only 12 players online, the mp part is the main reason i'd be getting it.

Think i'll let my lad get it on the 360 before i make my mind up.

Yup.

Apparently it got interesting when T4RG4 tweeted just before Spa saying they have changed the handling etc and that Ant should try it. Ant remarks that he can't be blamed for it now :p

We know they have implemented some kind of handling/suspension/damage changes. None of us will ever know if it has made the handling less realistic or not. At least there are F1 drivers who have said it is very close to the real thing.

Edit: Some MP info - apparently you can choose to equalize performance or use 2010 performance settings. If you want a challenge in your Lotus use 2010 setting and then beat everyone :p

Edit 2: Geez, I need to stop reading the official forums so much!
