Helios answering my question on Steam pricing -

We've just confirmed pricing details so expect to be able to pre-order soon.

Also posted by a member of the forums, would like to read the whole thing:

Just wanted to give you a heads up that our favourite F1 game scored a very good 8/10 in the official Xbox mag. It seems to get marked down on the career mode and says the press interactions are "largely pointless".
It does say that the handling and graphics are excellent with special mention going to the suspension feel - a result of the updated physics perhaps?

he says this about it:

Car feeling a bit more grippy than real life but improvements have def been made since my last visit. Trust me, you're going to LOVE IT about 2 hours ago via Twitter for iPhone

Seriously, are you trolling?

No I just don't see the point personally. Crash damage affecting handling, punctures from debris etc - cool. Random bogus mechanical failures - not interested. If they feature this but include an option to disable it, that's fine with me. /troll off

Let me know what you think of the wheel m8 if you dont mind.

After one myself. Being a poor student I cant justify a £250 G27. :(

I have a feeling a wheel will be better for F1, rather a 360 pad.

Will do mate. Will post here once I get the game (will try in Dirt 2 and Grid in the meantime - the two main racing games on my PC at the moment). Couldn't justify a G25 or G27 myself either. Paid £45 for the EX, which doesn't seem too bad if I don't get on too well with it. I have the 360 pad too and although Codemaster's games are designed for it, it still doesn't feel very "immersive" and is difficult to get a smooth drive with. Especially on the straights where it is much more difficult to make small adjustments and I always feel like I am loosing a lot of time. So fingers crossed this works well.

Has that wheel got any PC drivers, its a PS2 /PS3 wheel so does it work on a PC as well? I thought it didn't...

Oh well sure you'll have a blast with it. Not just with F1 2010, other racing games out there you can use this with.

Yup, has PC drivers (Win 7 64bit too). It isn't officially supported on the PC list, but it is on the PS3 list - so I don't see a problem. Was trying to get a GT, but obviously with demand the prices have gone £100+. Uses the same drivers/software as the GT/G25 I think, and these were just updated.

£26.99 on Steam, but the achievements and leaderboards are gone :(. I would like it to track my played time though - but being more expensive than shopto and considering I will get it 2-4 days earlier from shopto, not sure I want it from Steam.

So where are the pre order bonus. lol oh 10% discount. shopto I think.

Yep, think I will just pre-pay to seal the deal on there. Just read the xbox review . Looks and sounds better than I expected. Damage model looks good and I like the sound of kerbs being more slippery in the wet and puddles/racing lines on the track. The weather system looks abolutely stunning.

"breathtakingly quick" and "cars feel dangerous" - excellent :D

 A fuel simulation mode. Apparently if you wheel spin too much out of the corners and push too hard you can struggle to reach the end of the race. Sounds good.

Is martin brundle going to feature as a press member?

Would be awesome if you could punch him.

I would rather punch Johnathon Legard, he's a proper annoying t***.

Pre ordered from Steam.

Only a couple of quid extra than most places are charging, apart from Shopto, but worth the extra to have it in my Steam account.

In regards to random failures it will be a matter of days before someone mods it I'm sure... if you can cause failures yourself then it can't be much work to make them random.

Still I don't hold out much hope for this from a sim racer point of view, pretty sure this is going to be dirt III with more tarmac and F1 cars.

Anyone know what time it will unlock on Steam?

Normally stuff unlocks on PST, which is 8 hours behind us, so it's normally the next day when we can play stuff.

Unless you're prepared to wait until the early hours of the morning.

6pm Friday 24th. They said it should be available to preload though, so should be able to play it shortly after.
