Can anyone help me with this please? I thought I'd get closer to 60 FPS with my rig. I'm using the latest drivers from Nvidia.

Do I need to Overclock my CPU/GPU to achieve this ?

Thanks

You haven’t got something like V Sync enabled have you? I must admit I was doing some testing with the benchmark tool last night, granted I’m running a ATI 5870 but I noticed the combination of –

V Sync enabled
MLAA Enabled in CCC
Cat AI set to quality
SSAA set in CCC
Triple Buffering forced in D3D Override
Ultra settings in game
8 x MSAA
1920 x 1080

Basically the game is fully maxed out on my system, using quality settings in CCC, lets really test it.. lol even though I know nothing about graphics card, I’m an eye candy man..

The game looked sweet as anything but the benchmark test looked as though the game was locked to 30fps. Clearly game couldn’t maintain 60fps so v sync halved this to 30fps, to be expected but I thought triple buffer would have helped.

I since learnt the MLAA can disabled triple buffering, so disabled this and then I got 47fps on average. Weird….

Haven’t tried without v-sync, but to be honest I would expect maybe about the same. I know if I turned ATI CCC down to performance it did hit 60fps, but I love the eye candy with everything quality etc… I can play at average 47fps, Mclaren textures are so much nicer to look at..

Hopefully a more informed NV user can advise. But on my rig, which is no sluch with all the eye candy it can suffer, seems to be a demanding game, which is surprising.

I'm playing the patched PC version but I do seem to have puddles, in fact I was thinking to myself playing it last night that it looks much much better on the DX11 (Ultra) settings and seems to run better than it did before the patch, but definitely have puddles, will see if I can get some screenies later.

Would you like some vinegar to add to the salt you're rubbing in ? :p Glad it's working for someone though. They definitely sorted out the racing aspect of the game and DX11 looked slightly better, I could swear I seen camera flashes in Canada with DX11 enabled, which was cool. Just a few more tweaks to fix the weather and the crashing and I'm fully happy :)

same here, even if i race at legend i win the race so easy, this game sucks really bad

I certainly see why you’d be a bit miffed, as with others. Codemasters really shouldn’t have released the game in such a state.

After playing the game on 20% race distance last night on professional AI you can clearly see that the patch has addressed many issues but also introduced new issues. Why? Simply as this game was never complete to begin with, it shows how broken it was to start with, as the subsequent patch has fixed issues but also introduced new issues along the way.

Play testing simply hasn’t been stringent enough but with the constraint of management decisions and bean counters wanting this out before the F1 season was over (and its going to be over by the time this game is up and running correctly) its severely tainted the reputation of codemasters.

History should tell you that crafting a game based on an already complex and prestigious sport such as F1 takes time and time is something that codemasters ran out of to meet their deadline of 24th September.

You’ve only got to look at Grand Prix 4 to see how even competent programmers under the guidance of the great Geoff Crammond can release a game with a long list of bugs and issues.

This game isn’t even in the same league as GP4 in all honesty. Yet it has dismantled GP4 as being the bug riddle F1 game that is was, GP4 had that mantle for years, Codemasters have clearly dislodged GP4 from that position. Well I guess codemasters had to better Geoff Crammond somewhere.. Well done boys, still least the game is being fixed.

I still believe that this game should have been given an option to entitle ANYONE for full refund, as many have been left sour mouthed with all the issues and it clearly continues…

However lets all not lose heart, I feel with a couple more patches this game will finally be up to scratch..

Maybe F1 2011 will provide a more out of the box F1 Experience without all the frustrations..

Oh and TV style replays and some commentary isn’t too hard. Take note for the next release. F1 on the PS1 had this back in 1994. Up your game codemasters. I’ve been polite about this title but gloves are off.

Its good, but you’ve fallen well short of a classic.

Erm pulled this from the codemasters F1 2010 forum -

Hey everyone,

Don't think we're ignoring you! Please understand that we cannot monitor the forums constantly and that responding to every thread is instantly is unrealistic (as much as we'd like to!). We will of course try and respond wherever possible, we're here to help.

In regards to the original question of whether there will be a new patch, unfortunately at this time we have no news to suggest this is going to happen. Right now we're looking at the feedback you gave us about the patch, whether you liked/hated it, what things were broken and fixed. All this feedback that you've given to us is being forwarded onto the devs.

Your comments and concerns have been heard!

Say what? So, codemasters. You released a patch that has now broken the one area of the game that excelled against all over F1 titles before you and you might not even fix it?

Hmmmm epic fail at the moment. Wet weather driving was the one area this game was really excellent at providing, now its broken but - hey least we can pit without being thrown to the back of the pack..

codemasters - my hats off to you all..!! lol thankfully its not a complete deal breaker for me, the game still has plenty to offer, but I might change the settings and see if I can turn wet weather off TBH. lol

Thought I was reading double, its a fix that some guy found by messing about..

http://community.codemasters.com/fo...-possible-workaround-missing-rain-puddle.html

Hope they pay that chap for his beta testing.. lol

anyhow, hope this works. i'll give it a go..!! It it works then that'll pretty much do for me until F1 2011 I guess..:p

edit ah no...!! this is actually a different fix. So many articles and i'm getting confused. lol

so is anyone else finding this game really easy to race in now,i mean you can give them a lap head start and still probably catch them, and i have it set to the hardest it can go,as for the rain i cant comment as i did a fresh install and ive just started of again on the first race, but cant even finish that as i get a error saying exe has stopped working

Seems that fix posted by nightst@lk3r is going down a treat on the CM forums :) was about time we had some good news for this game hahaha
Only now having played some more with the fix applied im finding game performance is crap again, and low CPU, GPU usage is back ffs, im beginning to wonder if they didn't turn this off on purpose for the patch.

Wasn't the corrupt save bug one of the fixes in the patch ? at least I though it was ...

Sorry buddy but unless you have a backup before this happened then I don't think there is a way to get your data back.

Before the patch it was advised to only quit/exit to paddock after doing qualy as CM thinks quitting early caused the problem. This may apply again by the looks of things.

Edit: It was a fix ...

・Corrected an issue where save data is reported corrupted

[conspiracy]And turning it back on again for the weekend is their way of shutting up all the moaners and whiners on forum until they find a real fix :p [/conspiracy]

Yeah looks like the fix works but it also humps performance, damn :(

Ok puddles are back. I only done a quick 1 lap in Melbourne to test it out.

Still need to test for a drying line on a damp track too.

my Post Process now says LNG_GFX_HWCONFIG_OVERRIDE ... everyone with the puddles fix got this too or am I thpeshal ?

Edit: massive performance hit ... apparently i was in DX9 the first time around but once I forced DX11 I seen a massive difference in my fps :( back to DX9 then.

So enabling the puddles kills frame rate, kills sli, kills crossfire, causes problems under DX11, bassicly everything the patch fixed, humm coincidence much?

Yeah... I enabled puddles etc. Reflections and rain effects, drying line and the whole works is back, at a cost.

I lost 15fps on average. My PC has a bit of grunt so I can live with it. I can play at 40fps on average but it does seem DX11 mode isn't optimised. It is a bit err..!! Hmmm

Anyhow, pit stops still work correctly and new OSD timing is ok. Game looks so much nicer in DX11 mode, I'm leaving it as this now. Its decent enough, and I'll use the PS3 version to play online.

Game still feels rushing out the door, just not enough time spent on it I feel.. I decent game takes years to develop, they'll hopefully take this and use what they have for F1 2011 and get it right next time.. They've got 12 months to work in the 'real' f1 game we'd all hoped for.. lol
