***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

Hopefully they've done some serious work on the AI. For someone that's been playing racing games for years, it's just waaaay too slow. I already have iRacing for my online racing needs, and it would be great to have an offline racer with proper AI. It's really sad that the decade-old GP4 still has the best AI out of any racing game I've ever driven.

Also isn't the Nurburgring the really long 7 minute per lap track? If so how would that work for F1 cars as that is one very bumpy track which F1 cars wouldn't like.

The Nurburgring F1 track is only a short section of the track, not the whole thing.

Didn't play F1 2010 cause it looked pap, but will probably buy this.

I definitely won't be getting this, I was stupid enough to buy F1 2010, not again.

The timeline will probably go something like this:
Release F1 2011 full of bugs on September 23rd
Up until September 30th refuse to admit any bugs exist
October 15th release patch that half-fixes half the bugs, and introduces a few new bugs for good measure
October 18th announce that that's the only patch and the rest will be fixed in F1 2012

Give or take a few days of course...

I haven't experienced a single bug offline, and the game is worth the £30 for that alone.

Nurburgring GP ;)

Heidfeld did take his BMW around the Nordschleife a few years ago.

it needs safety cars, track marshals, more ai crashes, better crash physx,
if it doesnt have this there is no point in getting it

There is a point in getting it I still really enjoy 2010 but it should really have Safety cars, track marshals and better crash physx.

after the farce that was f1 2010 and dirt3 , refuse to buy anymore codemasters bug ridden and poorly supported games

Really?
Did you not notice that you start at the wrong side of the track at Brazil if you get pole?
When you enter the pits at Monaco you are going to fast ?
Some AI cars still do not pit leading to unrealistically high finishes for poor teams
Damage still not affecting AI cars performance not affected +these

You must have the only one with a fully working F1 game ;)

dirt 3 isnt bug ridden and extremely well optimised.
f12010 though is completely the opposite.

try driving it with a steering wheel n not a lamerpad n enjoy the incredible steering lag it has, why was a patch out so soon? and they still didn't fix the most glaring of issues like having to reconfigure controls on startup

I cant help but think that it should be an expansion or reasonably priced DLC update for the existing version.

I don't fancy paying another £30 for what was essentially a little bit of a let-down that never felt finished properly.

In the words of codemasters, the AI use a 'football management' style simulation mode for qualifying. This is one thing I hope they address in the 2011 release and use actual AI physical timing. Other than that I really liked the 2010 game, in particular the sense of speed from the cockpit. The integration with TrackIR worked well too as you can adjust the cockpit view to sit higher in the car to get a better view of the track. We were waiting a long time for regular F1 games on PC after Crammonds GP4, so I'll definitely be buying this.
