***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

As with older racing titles, once again Codema$ter$ showed their true colours of releasing a patch for F1 2010 and leaving outstanding issues, before moving onto the next incarnation.

Pretty graphics do not aid the longivity of a game, gameplay and fixes do...

I seen the screenshots of this about 1-2 weeks ago and my first thought was - it looks like the RDDEV 2011 mod for F1 2010.

Certainly not holding my breath and with Skyrim + Battlefield coming this year it will be hard for other games to compete for my money me thinks. F1 2011 will be a December/January purchase no doubt.

Dev Diary #1 is due the end of this week according to Andy Grey on Twitter.

@AndyGray_: The 1st Dev Diary should hit the net by the end of the week. I'll confirm where & when once concrete

2010 has a lot of issues lets hope they can fix some of them for the new release and not be left with an unfinished game!

Why do they want to increase longevity of their game if they are going to release a new one the year after? :p

I don't like these yearly updates but surely its expected if you compare the EA Sports series and such, its going to add just enough not to be classed as DLC but IMO not enough to be classed as a true sequel, shame no one can make proper addons for console games like the good old days.

But I don't remember the last time EA released a Fifa or Tiger Woods game that had so many bugs it was unplayable, and then didn't bother to fix most of them.

I can see a large percentage of people not buying this because the first one was so bad. They may actually be better off releasing a patch which fixes all the problems, and then DLC which adds the new tracks/rules/features, at say £15, because I bet more people would buy at that price for the update, than £30 for a full game.

I have a Logitech DFP and it's not possible to change the button mapping in-game. The default mapping does not let you call for a pit stop or apply the pit limiter from the wheel. This alone unfortunately means I will be trying before I buy.

Really?
Did you not notice that you start at the wrong side of the track at Brazil if you get pole?
When you enter the pits at Monaco you are going to fast ?
Some AI cars still do not pit leading to unrealistically high finishes for poor teams
Damage still not affecting AI cars performance not affected +these

You must have the only one with a fully working F1 game ;)

I usually finish in the middle of the grid and it seems everyone pits to me.

Don't ever see AI cars crashing at all really or getting damaged, damage in the game is rubbish, visually anyways.

The other things are pretty small issues, mind you someone above saying EA don't release bug ridden games, they do, FIFA is every year, it is far more annoying than this.

I don't understand why people want the safety car to be included. It is a racing game. I want to race, not drive around slowly behind a safety car. I can imagine it being something that I will go "Oh cool!" at when it comes out for the first time but then get annoyed with every time after that. Especially when every single online race has a safety car after the obligatory turn 1 crash.

Though I am looking forward to it, KERS and DRS should make it more interesting. Almost like Mario Kart: F1 Edition.

This. Safety cars sound cool until you actually try them. Safety cars in iRacing are seriously boring. Besides, Codemasters want to make these accessible rather than realistic.

I'll be keeping an eye on this but I'm not expecting much. 2010 was a disappointment because of the bugs that they never really fixed.

You haven't played Fifa 11 on the consoles then lol. So many bugs/freezes e.t.c it is silly.

I look forward to F12011 but I'm not going to buy it on release like I did with 2010 not a chance.

Apart from the pit stop bug, I never had any issues.

The 2011 skin pack mod is awesome too, if you don't fancy buying a game for a few minor updates ;)
