***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

The bloody AI is doing my head in!

The number of times now I've had to restart a session because they bob about on the racing line during practise and qualifying laps is tedious.

Race pace is just wrong, I qualified pole in Monaco in a Lotus - all realism on, ALL aids off, Pro difficulty. I'm not moving to Legendary because the wet race pace is just insane, it's nearly as fast as dry i.e. complete BS!

Yet in Spain with a little rain I can't get anywhere near them, I struggle to keep up with the back of the grid.

They also seem as fast in race trim as they do qualifying, in other words the fuel/tyre sim does NOT effect them!

Again, same crap as last year. Sure you guys might be having fun in multiplayer but that's only one side to it, there are a lot of people out there wanting an enjoyable single player game for their money - just isn't going to happen.

I'm starting to agree with you bleek!

I enjoyed it at the start but you're right the AI is just wrong and the whole game feels unfinished AGAIN!!

**wait for the F1 2012 update from CM** 3rd time lucky!!

Initially the game feels OK, after a few hours you think "actually this could be good fun" as it feels improved from last year, but the reality of a few hours more play is yet more 'bugs' and issues with the programming/logic of the game. It's very, very frustrating.

It's these situations where I can understand people pirating software to 'trial' it, I feel like I should have done the same with 2010 (which because of its game breaking faults I hated in the end) and now 2011.

2012 will mean parting with yet another £30 and as above, not sure that'd be wise so I'll probably 'trial' it first. It's not as if I'll be getting my money back, is it? :-/

You could have got it for £17 had you got boxed.

Online is fun but the lobby system is silly, that stupid timer resetting when someone leaves or joins, can take ages to start. too much loading, 3 lap races are over in as many mins and then there's 5+mins of waiting, couldn't they do like 3 races at a time? But maybe that's just in quick mode.

Bah :(

Liked the first, but the issues with the AI stopped me completing it, was hoping this would be a more polished game.

Seems not... Oh well :(

If they can't fix the so obvious mistakes within 12 months then I will pass on any further games released by them.

I will play depending on who else is playing

We usually run with no banned assists let people use what they want but there isn't much people that use assists. No one runs the glitched setup while playing with us.

Contact does happen from time to time but yeah it can be frustrating. I was running a very close race with someone at Melbourne for 6 plus laps untill I braked a fraction too late into T3 and tapped him offline. I just waited for him and let him back passed, no harm no foul.

My GWFL is EIF EV, I dont have a mic though.

I Agree with the others, this game is really quite poor once you look past the handling of the cars. I think thats the only major improvement over 2010. Haven't tried online yet, simply because i am more of a off line gamer when it comes to racing. Too many idiots ramming you off the road when they get a chance.

I am also finding this game very easy, racing on legend with all assist off expect traction (full) I am wining races with a Williams which should be the slowest car of all the established teams. I Won a race with a Mercedes, starting last in Singapore, had a puncture, broke my front wing once yet still managed to win by 15 seconds.

Why they don't make an option to how fast you want the AI to be in % terms. I remember F1 Challange 99-02 game where you could manually adjust AI speed from 80% to 120%. At 110% setting I could not keep up and I was driving flat out with all the aids on. Proper challenging game, not this crap we have now.

Online racing is so much better this year, imo because of fastest laps. I think this is one of the best new features.

Sure contact happens, you know it happens in real life too, think Monza first corner. If you are annoyed of always getting hit then dont play with random people. Plus if you do happen to get hit trying to get fastest lap is a lot of fun too.

Its not always the end of the world either. Had a race in spain, think it was Murry who started to spin and I kept him on the track and so I ended up last after the first corner. Still managed to challenge though and took the lead on the last lap ( plus achievement :) ), epic race.

The more people that come online the better.

Yeah sure contact happens like when me and mike hit at spain is was fine because it doesn't happen all the time but when someone constantly keeps hitting people and ruining there races it gets annoying.

If you really enjoy the game just keep playing and practising.

You really should try to race without the dynamic race line because it wont help you adapt your lines and braking points when racing in traffic. Following it blindly, especailly online is a recipe for disaster. Learning the tracks for yourself is half the fun imo.

We tend to have 7-8 players so far, the more the merrier! Those longer races were great. Abu Dhabi 50% actually went quite quickly.
