***Official Formula One 2011 Thread***

after settings tweaking g25 is much nicer now.

Would you care to share your tweaks?

I played online yesterday, I found myself shouting at the monitor as I got rammed left/right and centre. There seems to be very few 'open lobbies'. How do I go about joining you guys for a race?

I can't help but wonder whether this "new" suspension model is the same one that was excluded from the game last year at the very last minute - I remember Ant being really annoyed that they had changed it.

An interesting post on the official forums -

I think CM need to know this before they go playing around with the springs to fix this bug, because it isn't exactly what we all think it is. I've spent about an hour testing all variables, springs at 11, 10, 9, 6, 1 and some random ones also, and all under the exact same conditions on the same tyre.

Basicly, 11/11 for spring rate isn't just a rare conicidence in setups that means you're instantly 3-5 seconds faster. 10/10 will do pretty much the exact same thing, same for 9/9, the lower the numbers, the less dramatic the insane amount of grip. So just banning 11/11 won't fix it. 1/1 will give you huge understeer, but good tyre wear, where as 11/11 will give you insane speed and grip, but bad tyre wear.

It should no longer be reffered too as the 11/11 glitch, because it's not just 11/11 as I said earlier. It's basicly the whole spring setup that isn't coded correctly.

I think the way to fix this is too adjust the way springs effect the car. They have the basics right. 11/11 will make you faster but it gives you bad tyre wear, and the oposite for 1/1. That part is right, what isn't right, though, is that the 11/11 far outways the bad tyre wear. Theoretically, if I ran 11/11 the whole race and my mate ran 6/6 the whole race, and we were the same pace usually. Then I will stretch a gap out due to my pace, but his good wear will close that back up again at the end of a long stint. Unfortunetly that's not how it works, the 11/11 is so fast, it doesn't matter how bad your tyre wear is, no one will ever catch you. So really, all that needs to be done is, half how much faster 11/11 will make you, that way the tyre wear will make everyone want to go with a different setup.

I hope this helps you devs somewhat, because frankly, this is ruining the game, and like many others, I want it fixed.

Wow, Codemasters are ****ing idiots.

I understand everyone makes mistakes but surely this would have been spotted during testing, surely the programmers should have seen their numbers were off - again smacks of lack of F1 knowledge of Codies and their testers.

At least this time they are taking more notice of the problems - it remains to be seen how many of these bugs will be fixed, but the talk over there at the moment seems positive. Only 2 days until I can play this :)

Well to be fair I have tried this game on my 42" Panasonic TV using my Dell Studio 1749 laptop, and that has an ATI 5650 1 gb GPU and running at 1280 x 720 which lets face it, on a HD TV sitting 5 feet away with 8 x MSAA and ultra settings puts the PS3 version to shame, I get a solid 30fps with v sync and for a laptop thats playable...

Using a 360 pad its a lot of fun once you get it up and running. Game does improve on last years game, I'm kinda enjoying it but sometimes I do feel like the car isnt well planted to the track, its easy to spin out but Kers and DRS make it fun..

Pit stops are fine, PS3 version BTW the graphics are a bit naff in places. PC version is a lot better, even at 720 on a HDTV..

On my Q6600 rig game runs very well at 1080 so codemasters have done ok ish..!! not a completely poor game, needs some improvements.. AI is again still pants, and get in your way on flying laps etc...

Might join you guys in a bit for the first time, whats the mumble details ? Just going to add you all from the league thread now.
