Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

Thanx, got it all working now with tighter mem timings, some of em I don't know what they are but this system is rocking. Got the 6300 @ 472 FSB giving 3.3Ghz @1.39V now and seemingly quite solid. No crashes at all yet runing two instances of sp2004 for an hour. Loaded temp still showing 53c. Did some benchies for my son who is a Counter Strike Source guru and he was stunned with a video stress test score lowest settings @ 1028x768 of 451fps and fully maxed settings @1280X1024 of 220fps.. Unbelievable value for money!

Ive been helping my mate duke out today, swapped his chip for my 4Gz duel 805d. So ive got a conroe 6600 and Gskill PC8000 ram.
I still need to bench it at the 3.6Ghz speed and do some more reseach on why I can get further than he could. So by tomorrow evening i should have some advice on this forum. The one thing i can say is DONT put ram voltage up to +0.4 got mine sitting on +0.2. Any higher than that it wasnt stable.
Anyway here is a pic to show you guys. And a big thanks to Duke who started this thread in letting me try his chip!!! :)

Will post back tomorrow.

originaly i was going to get an msi neo, then i found out they have no vcore and their fsb only goes to 333, so ive settled on a ds3, as it seems people getting excellent clocks out of them, will i be able to get 3ghz out of my e6300 if i use the stock cooler?

also, dunno fi this is allowed but does ocuk let you change the items in an order if it hasnt been sent yet?

to the second question, yes, OCuk do allow you to change your order, just ring them up. As to the first, I'm not sure. I'm using a zalman 9500.

Oh yes, as janesssssy said, drop your mem voltage.

I was on +0.3V, now on +0.2V, and whereas before windows was hanging at any fsb over 430, I'm now on 460, and could well be going higher.

Thats 3.22GHz on air, kids :D

Built my new rig yesterday from parts ordered here at OcUK.

DS3 w/ updated bios f4
Geil PC8000 low latency ram
E6300
X1800XT

Was bricking it after I built it before the 1st power on, I have read a few horror stories about different brands of ram not working.

And true enough I almost chat my pants when I encountered the initial power on bug, (PC powers on for a coupla secs then powers itself off for 3 or 4 secs  ).

It all booted ok eventually flashed bios installed XP etc, etc.

So for those reading this that are unsure of the DS3 and ram buy the Geil 2Gb kit and you'll be laughin. Great stock timings too, 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v

Now its stable I need to start oc'ing...

Erm well I'd thought I'd backed up my copy of 3dmark, but it seems I've erm lost it.

Need to acquire it again. Also I cant seem to get an old copy of (dont laugh) Aquamark to run so I'm abit stuffed for benchies atm.

Have to resort to Pi or other stuff.

Hi,
Can anyone post the correct DS3 settings for the E6300 and GEIL PC2-6400 DDR800 Ultra Low Latency RAM for me please? I'm not convinced everything is set up okay as this is my first Intel. CPU-Z and Sandra are saying my RAM is different to what it says in the label attached to the orange RAM sticks. I have the F4(e) BIOS installed. I want to make sure everything is okay at default speeds before I attempt any overclocking. I think the CPU is okay, it runs at 1600-1800Mhz in CPU-Z, its mainly the RAM I'm not sure about. I have it running at 2.1v with the 0.3v voltage addon.

Thanks for any advice you can give! I think the main thing is I can't get anything to confirm the same settings as the label on the GEIL ram!

Im still going here, now with corsair 6400 c4 ram @ 8 x 450 , same setting in bois as b4, but steadily upping the ram/fsb. How far will it go till i melt somethink (that northbridge does get hot !). Prime stable for 5 hours. Will run several tests over next few days (yes its well cooled system on air). One question, a friend got all silly and got some more geil 6400 ram to make 4 gig, now all of a sudden he is getting issues within windows and failing prime... any others out there with 4 gig of the geil in the DS3 ?

Has anyone else had problems with the F4 bios?, My dvd writer stops burning with it, so I've gone back to the F4E bios.

I did try the F4 with the updated chipset drivers, and it still failed.

Hmm which temp. utilities you guys using?

I use EasyTune and Speedfan utility, they both report cpu=34 board=35 @ idle.

But Coretemp reports the temps @ 46 & 47 at idle too, which do I trust?

F4 bios is ok for me so far, even tho CPU-Z reports as F1 still
