Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

Hi guys

I've put PCI-E Freq to 105 and dimm volt +0.4 as you advised.
I also set Core Volt to 1,43125 and this spec, after changes runs quite well. Once orthos runs for 8 hours without error, and now i have stable 1 hour second test and still running.

But my question is about voltages.
Why when I've set core to 1,43125 in CPU-Z and Everest shows 1,38 ? and Dimm voltage I've set as I said +0,4 so it should be 2,2 but everest shows 2,08 ? It is something wrong ?

And question about temperatures
Processor temp in full stress is now 58*C-59*C it is normal or too high ?
Core temps are 60*C-62*C - what about that?
My hsf is Scythe Ninja. maybe it is wrong mounted ?

In idle tem is 38*C and I think that is quite good.

Thank you for your answers

cheers
mordim3r

EDIT: Orthos stops after 1h10m :/ what could be wrong ?

Your load temps do seem high but then your vcore is too. I'm fairly sure that your HSF is seated correctly because your idle temps are much the same as mine.

I would see if it can run at the same overclock with a bit less volts.

What sorta overclock are you running?

Whats that CPU EIST function in the BIOS, my mate was on about some intel speedstep thing on his P5W that should be turned off, as when yer idling it downclocks your CPU or something, any ideas what hes on about, as he said things seemed laggy when in windows, is it called that CPU EIST on here, mines still enabled, but mines running fine in windows, no lag or nowt, so just want to check that mine is set right thats all, even though it seems to be as its running fine as said, ive got that CIA2 accelerator thing disabled still as well, DS4 here BTW. :)

I wouldn't have thought it would make things seem "laggy"?

Tomshardware did some test with this feature and the original speed step and there were some small performance hits as the features have to switch off before running the chip at full speed but I would think it was only noticable in benchmarks.

I would only check the make sure it's not affecting your max overclock, if its not then don't worry :D

Well i aint overclocked it yet, just my mate was saying to turn it off, but i didn't know what he was going on about, and he was saying his seemed a bit laggy and thats why, so he turned it off, and i should make sure mine was off, but it must be called something else on this board (CPU EIST im guessing), but i don't notice any lag or nowt, its running fine, games everything, so if it doesn't really matter then ill just leave it as is.

Thanks. :)

I read some of the posts here and im seriously put off buying DS3.

It will be my first build and my first overclock - cm'on guys, sell it to me! Help a noob out :D

Well I'm damn pleased with mine, 466 fsb and I'm sure it's my ram holding me back as I was able to do 475 with the ram on default timings.

Nah! - I too was put off by the thought of overclocking.

I got into it a tiny bit with a K6/2 was back in the day... Best I had was 672Mhz which at the time was a dream come true.

I then managed to get hold of a pair of XP1700's ( JIUHB ) that were fairly good clockers, an Abit NF7S and then I let my good mate InsanCen have one of the CPUs and I sat back and waited for him to return his findings... I had a go myself and have been hooked ever since... I have a fairly silly ammount of PCs and while none of them are completely looney in the overclocked area, they are indeed all overclocked to some extent.

In no particular order, these are my currently running systems:-

Abit NF7S & XP1700 - 2.7Ghz
Abit NF7S & XP1700 - 2.4Ghz
Abit KD7-R & XP2500 - 2.2Ghz
MSI Delta & XP2500 - 2.5Ghz
DFI LanParty 250GB & Newcastle 3000 - 2.5Ghz
MSI Neo2 & Winchester 3200 - 2.5Ghz
MSI Neo2 & x2-3800 - 2.5Ghz
MSI Neo2 & Opteron144 - 2.48Ghz
MSI Neo4 & x2-4400 - 2.5Ghz

Yes, I like Abit for Socket A and MSI for 939... So what?

And of course, for the LGA775, I got myself a pair of DS3s

The Prescot 660 3.6Ghz CPU is swingling along at 4.3Ghz in one, and the Conroe, or Allendale E6300 is running stock but thats purely because I dont have any good RAM yet, as the missus says hold out till xmas to see whats in my stocking... Hopefully her, but RAM will do.

Anyway, whatever the score, once you realise what you can get with overclocking, you too will probably realise just what you have been missing out on.

I have no intention of ever buying a thing for a PC unless it clocks in some way.

There were a few problems with the early BIOS revisions but it's a brilliant board with the latest revision.

Yeah, ist a great board.

Can only compare it with boring bog-standard Intel Mobos and not against any decent ones, btu from what I have seen, Im fairly impressed.

Only issue I have had is that Creative cards have ben somewhat iffy on it, however, that said, I have not had such issues recently, and I had not yet pin-pointed it, but a BIOS setting or two has cured it.

I have an Audigy 4 which seems okay. Long as it's sorted now that's good :)

Right in the middle of swapping a few PC internals over...

The XFIis in the Neo4 / x2-4400 System now, thats fine.

The Audigy 4 is in the Neo2 / x2-3800 and thats as expeced, fine.

The Audigy 2 is in the DS3 / C2D and that too is fine.

Im trying to think if when I got the board, it had the F5 BIOS and upping it to F6 cured it, but so far, and for the last week or so, its been fine in the DS3
