Official Gigabyte DS3 Owners Thread

Yep ram holding back. As above; either run in a divider or get some 6400 :D

I had some PC5300 and asked about a divider - in this thread i think. And other than Auto using 4:5 you can only choose 2.0x which is 1:1. The DS3 does not have the option of a divider - thats what i was told anyway.

EDIT: Page 26 of this thread a divider is discussed.... there aint one according to the posters there.

ok so theres nothing i can since i cant divide...hmm i brought my 1GB ram for 85 quid :/ i dont want to spend more money buying ram i already have...what am i gonna do with the one im using....pftt...

You're stuck then unless you buy the RAM you should have bought in the first place.

You cant really complain because you bought RAM rated to run your CPU at stock and you are getting more out of it. You should have bought the proper stuff in the first place really.

Dont worry mate, we all do that kind of thing now and then.

I got a pair of Corsair XMS 6400C4 thats now back in the box doing nothing after just 2 weeks of use.

( No its not for sale because Im going to use it soon enough )

DS3 f9 BIOS is out already.

Seems to solve the cold boot issues that f8 was having for some ppl.

Since that BIOS says it officially supports FSB1333 it will be interesting to see if it will OC any better.

I also wonder if this will enable a "1333 strap" option like the bad axe.

Love to hear from anyone whos tried it?

Thanks for heads up. Didn't expect another so quick :o Going to give it a try now...

(updated opening post)

Menus are the same as far as I can see. The only change was back in F5 I think when they added those new coloured bits on the tweaking page.

Going to give it some OCing test. I've never managed to get more than about 380-400FSB ish so far, but will try again now...

Can boot @ 3.6 (400 x 9) but isn't stable. Tried running relaxed timings (even though it's running at stock), upping voltage on everything.. no joy. Must be limit of the CPU? as I've seen all the other DS3s way over 400 FSB.

Anyone that is considering the GA-965G-DS3 to overclock, DON'T, it sucks. Just bought a 965P because I could only overclock to 2.7Gig on the G chipset.

doesn't it already automatically switch to the 1333 strap somewhere around 400fsb?

Doesn't say much for Gigabyte's testing process if just seven days after the f8 bios is released, the f9 comes out. After all they went through loads of beta testing on the f8.

Anyone else using the f9 - much cop?

loaded it on bout an hour ago,bit different from my last bios F5 :D different looking settings in bios
don`t want to `play` with it yet .need the pc`working ok` for a while so somebody else can be the o/c guinea pig :)

No, I didnt get that far, although I have been updating the BIOS now whilst ive been waiting for replies, im updated to F9 thanks to my USB pen drive..

Still dont understand why its dissapeared like this, perhaps the drives had it, its not a new drive, it was in my old comp and im using it temporary...

but its still recognized in the BIOS as master ide device 4 I think, my wd raptor was ide channel 5 slave, is this correct? even tho the raptor isnt connected via IDE lol
