had my first go at overclocking my 4670k and at the moment i got 4.4ghz with 1.25v.
after 2 hours of AIDA64 stress testing the temperature average was 65c and max 77c using a corsair H90 cooler.
will lower the vcore to see if i can get the temperature down a bit.

Hi mate.

Can I ask other than running at x44, did you change any other settings? VRIN or LLC?
 
anyone experienced the first 16x pcie slot not working?

do you think I have a dud?

changed few things in bios like disabling intel graphics, then changing pcie rom to legacy and only selecting pcie slot 1, yet still no luck in first slot? only works in others..

cleared cmos etc etc

Is this a new board that you have just got hold off or was it working before?
 
Just came to this thread and discovered I made the last post back in August!

Anyway... I'm in need of info. I just ordered my 2nd Gigabyte 970 G1 Gaming and have just realised how long the cards are and am wondering.... will the 2nd card clash with the lower MoBo heatsink? It will be in the 3rd PCI slot from the top.

Does anyone have a SLI setup in this MoBo where the 2nd card clears that heatsink?

I'm not at home so I can't check, and the card will arrive before me!

I have time to cancel the order if need be...

The heatsink is lower in height that the pci slot.
 
Could any of you tell me if Gigabyte removed HPET toggle in bios from this motherboard too? My Z87 UD4H is missing it and i am gutted. :(
 
Just got my new 4790k today. I flashed my gigabyte bios to F8 and popped the chip in. Press power on, it boots and so far so good.

Then I notice the vcore that defaults have set:

4ghz @ 1.36v
4.4ghz boost @ 1.42v

WTF!

Any ideas why the defaults are trying to kill my chip?
 
There's a beta bios available but i'd rather not use beta.

I'll set up a custom overclock and get the vcore down, but I'm a bit annoyed that optimised defaults nearly killed my chip... They should be failsafe.
