**Official Gigabyte Z87X-OC Discussion Thread**

So after a god few hours of messing and tweaking ive found that I can get no more than 4.5ghz @1.392v. Idol temp of 25c and under benchmarking, firestrike and BF4, 65c, using a H100i and mobo controlling fans.

Should I return this CPU to OC to see if get a better one? Am I ok at those voltages?

Edit: forget that speed of 4.5ghz, its not stable. BAck down the 4.3ghz, turbo speed at same v's.

The Force is better,

WiFi+Bluetooth.

PLX chip so it does 4 way SLI and 4way Crossfire at like 8X/8X/8X/8X.

Water cooling channel and barbs on the heatsink around the socket.

Probably more but they are the main features from memory.

But the normal OC is no slouch.

on this board can anyone tell me the exact spacing on the 1st and 3rd lanes as shown in this pic

rc28p1.jpg

would that be classed as a 3 way spacer or 4 way spacer??? my friend buying my board off us and need to know what size of this http://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-fc-bridge-triple-parallel-z77-csq.html to get is the board classed as a 3 way or 4 way gap?

had my setup running with no problems since November then for some reason yesterday one of my hard drives disappeared when using windows. after some tinkering tonight I got it back by changing the port/cable then when testing to see what was the issue now I cant get it back at all. could a bios update possibly help?

its not showing in the bios, in windows or disk management but oddly IRST it shows up but 0gb then after a min says internal empty port. the drive is defo not wiped as all my stuff was on it then one time I managed to get it back.

thanks for any advice :)

edit: got it back now after using another new lead. odd. anyone had anything like this with this board?

crossfire on this board...

I am considdering going crossfire on this board with 2x 290x. Which two pci lanes would be best?
I havent fully made up my mind as yet, depends if its worth it.
Im running an MSI 290x lightning at mo so looking to maybe pair it with something as good but not as expensive!

Use 1+3 orange slot. That gives you 8x/8x

I see the F8 bios on this board says -

(Note) Please use the efiflash.exe included in the zip file to update this BIOS.

surely I Have`t got to create a dos disk in this day and age?

has anyone used the bios qflash to flash this bios version?

All updated and running now, done some quick tests and my 4.5ghz is up and running again.
Tested for a higher clock again but alas my chip seems to be maxed (stability) at that clock and to be fair its a good clock speed IMO.

Thanks for the clarification on the @BIOS.

F8 still the latest?

Grabbed 16GB of that 2400mhz hyperX, thought I had a faulty kit but both kits test out just fine on their own, only when all 4 lanes are populated does it BSOD like mad and throw out memtest errors. Googling about this seems to be an issue with Gigabyte Z87 boards and populating all 4 ram slots
