***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

Friend of mine found some benchmarks with lower end CPUs. They have only tested very high settings so far, but will update the article with lower settings later:

Its in polish, but the only writing isn't of much interest. The numbers in the graph are average and max FPS

Other pages of the article have GPU comparisons too for those who want it

Interested to know how a GTX 580 handles this

I'm not tempted by it yet as I don't think I'll get decent performance out of my rig for it

I7 920 (1st gen) 2.6ghz
6gb RAM
GTX 580 (1.5Gb)

If you can't, no one can :D

LMAO innit

Rockstar has admitted to a bug in the new PC release of Grand Theft Auto V that is preventing some users from logging in to their much delayed purchase. There is a Rockstar support article detailing the problem, one involving the characters used in the users Windows account no less, with a draconian solution to the problem while waiting for the inevitable first patch for the AAA title.

According to the knowledge base article, the problem involves any Windows user account with characters other than the basic upper and lower case alphabet, and the numeric set. So any account with a '~' or a '_' will not work. And this is a problem as some accounts created by using a Microsoft account will have the first five characters of the email address, an underscore, and three zeros like this: usern_000 for [email protected].

The only solution to the issue offered by Rockstar is to use a new Windows account to play the game, which is quite the step for most users. They even include a disclaimer that they are not positive it will be possible to move your saved progress, saying

We will update this support article with any new information as soon as we have it, including expected timing of a fix and whether you will be able to transfer progress on the newly-created Windows username over to your original Windows user account
This is causing quite the stir on their Support forums, as this game has had three official delays, with more rumoured launch windows missed before that, making this additional wait too much for some. On top of that, pre-orders have been going on for more than a year, adding to the frustration for those that bought early. To experienced gamers however, this is just one more in a long string of anticipated game releases marred by an initial broken experience, and a good warning against pre-ordering computer games.

damm thats a major bug for some!

I'm on an i5 750 (at 3.6ghz) with 8gb ram, and a 2gb 270x which from a quick google seems to be pretty much on par performance wise with the gtx 580.

I'm running at 1080 at 55-60fps on whatever settings it set as default. Some medium/high/very high settings included so far from just everything on low.

I'd expect you to have pretty similar performance as our systems aren't that far apart in performance.

I'm definitely going to have to sort out getting on Teamspeak, just been playing with a few guys and there were some headlesss chicken moments as I couldn't commmunicate with them. Great fun rampaging as a group though!

I am amazed by how well this plays and how good it looks. Everything on very high apart from a couple of settings with VSR @ 1440p and its silky smooth.

It's bloody hard with k&m after playing so many hours on the xbox one version!

Will see if my 2GB 6950 will run it acceptably at 1680x1050, otherwise time for a new graphics card. Crew invite request sent too - gladiac.

Dude, you'll be fine. My 1GB 5850 is getting 45fps on High settings (Normal textures) at 1080p. So impressed with how this is working on older hardware.

Hard Copy has arrived, just installing now :)
