Our Core i7-4770K would kick up a fuss if we pushed the multiplier past 37x, yet the chip could clearly run faster as we were able to reach 4.38GHz by marrying the default 35x multiplier to a 125MHz base clock. Going any higher, on either the base clock or multiplier, introduced system instability.

From all the feedback that I am getting through motherboard makers about Haswell overclocking, the basic thread at this time in terms of getting "high overclocks" seems to be, "You need to have a good CPU."

ASUS has tested a couple hundred Haswell processors at this time and this is ASUS’ specific feedback from that overclock testing.

70% of CPUs can clock to 4.5GHz
30% of CPUs can clock to 4.6GHz
20% of CPUs can clock to 4.7GHz
10% of CPUs can to 4.8GHz
 
Sandy Bridge = Good clocker, Ivy Bridge = What happened to overclocking? Haswell = Is there a pattern developing here?

Let's compare the performance of the new Core i7 4770K with that of its predecessor, the 3770K. In the table below we put all of the benchmark results of both CPUs, along with the difference.

Overall the performance gain is 23.8 percent, but that doesn't tell us very much. The results of the 3D benchmarks are impressive, as the Core i7 4770K is more than 50 percent faster. It's clear that Intel has improved its integrated graphics, and this is just the GT2 version. It will be interesting to see what GT3 has in store.

In the CPU benchmarks the average gain is 10.6 percent. Do note that this includes benchmarks with Quick Sync, OpenCL and AES-NI. When we exclude those, we end up with an average of 7.2 percent. And to be honest, for a new architecture, that's a little bit on the meagre side.

CPU performance seems to have staled, but the IGP performance seems to be a big improvement (well, the Iris Pro that is).

I'm more interested in how Haswell will perform in the mobile space instead of the desktop space to be honest, especially the IGP.
 
If intel don't get their fingers out with the raw performance all they will be making in a few years time is pocket calculators and wrist watches.
 
Lol...Intel is going to do an AMD, Bulldozer launches, prices actually go UP on previous gen chips because everyone's so disappointed.

Get them quick...
 
Sold my 2500K, and I'm not even sure if I want to get a 4770K.
Might get a second hand 3770K.

lol. Come on man, it ain't half as bad as that. Looking at benches we see at least 10% average boost. Not bad. I just don't like the temps and oc potential.

It'll cost me about ~30 quid for a 3770K upgrade from a 2500K.
It's going to cost me a lot more for a 4770K.
