Hi all . i am moving to a new place on 1st may and the building can have HyperOptic broadband according to the websites own postcode checker.

My questions are this:

  • Does the internet throttle during peak times?
  • is it fully unlimited?
  • Any restrictions on blocking websites/torrents/newsgroups?
  • How long from day of order to actually installing it and being ready to use is it? 2 weeks or more?

Thanks in advance

@Caged thanks I'll look into it but I did find a adapter lying around which has a longer cable but 1.2v but it works with the router.

@Evo I could but that would mean putting the router in the bedroom as opposed to the corridor where it is right now.

@Jonny I just signed up recently so I'll answer the last question. They installed 1 week after order and about 1 hour or less for installation. 15 mins then service went live. I'm in a new build tower block where they already had cables in the building.

  • Does the internet throttle during peak times? No
  • is it fully unlimited? Yes
  • Any restrictions on blocking websites/torrents/newsgroups? Not that I've noticed so far.
  • How long from day of order to actually installing it and being ready to use is it? 2 weeks or more? A week from ordering to two guys coming to visit. Installation took 10 minutes, live 5 minutes later.

1) Not that I've noticed. But no, Hyperoptic state that they do not throttle.
2) Yes, if you don't achieve max speed (1Gb) its usually because the server doesn't have the upload capacity.
3) I don't know, not that I've noticed anyway.
4) Was exactly 2 weeks for me. That was a guy who came from London to Birmingham just for my install.

Anyone thinking of joining hyperoptic let me know so we can I can do a referral and we both get £50 credit.

I'm down for that. Trust me your email and let's get talking.

Anyways I am thinking of trying out the 100mb one and my question is. Can I easily upgrade it to 1gb at a later date.?

I also assume you don't need a telephone line for this?

Doesn't this forum support pm? Can't chat nor send email via pm...

I was told you can change package after every month but best you conform with them. They are active on twitter.

No phone line needed :)

I'm looking at signing up for hyperoptic, the broadband only 100mb package. If anyone wants to refer me let me know the details.

I want to get it ordered by tomorrow lunchtime

cheers

I couldn't find anything relating to PMs but I believe I did the trust thing right, let me know if you didn't get it and I'll try again.
