Guys do you still have to de-lid these like IB?
Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
The Hero looks great. Got mine in today!!! Not had chance to try it yet though.
It depends whether you get a decent chip or not
What I mean to say is are they still using crappy TIM paste like in IB or have they sorted their act and are using better time or better yet, solder?
reminds me of the old northwood and Prescott from years ago where the older chip actually clocked higher! perhaps it should be known as the prescott haswell or if any one is wanting the new haswell they might do well to wait a few months for the later CPU batches to see if they improve in temps over early launch batches.
Is this a lemon like prescott intel?![]()
We'll call them Preswells then, maybe Hascotts?![]()

They are paste same as ivy
@lettuce working celerons? They are soldered so won't come off
The vice method looks like the best, orientation of the CPU looks like it can be very important, knowing which side of the CPU PCB to hit in the vice as not to knock off any of the resistors under the lid as it breaks free!
strikeing it from resistor side looks like the best option to delid, becase if you hit from other side and the PCB skates across the ICH it might knock some off!
Surely you mean striking from the opposite side, right? If you strike from the resistor side you're pushing the edge of the IHS towards the resistors.
It's inside the CPU box.
I'm having nothing but troubles with my Haswell stock set up, instability.
I've already had one corrupt OS install, and it was fresh!
