***Official Intel Haswell Thread***

Try some conductive glue and stick it back on,or place it back and heat it with a solder iron, either way you have nothing to lose

after de-liding what can processors do extra for same temps ? another 200-300mhz ? thats what around 5-7% extra performance ?

seems a lot of risk for little reward

Same temps? Most people that did it with Ivy's had 10-20c drops or more depending on the pastes used when putting it back, or going to direct die cooling.

^^ same temps as in at a higher overclock - is what I meant

if the CPU is under 95C or so and stable - only purpose to de-lid is to get a higher overclock - and like I said - that'd be about 5-7% extra

else just run in hot - I don't see why there is any worry about the chip burning out

unless you want to use your new Haswell for 10 years + ?

perhaps you do :)

I swear to God I'm getting sick to death of my board.
It now won't get into Windows unless the motherboard disc is in, this is only after installing the drivers....

Fresh install and Motherboard drivers.

Try a cmos clear?

@ buckster I got a 200mhz gain on a delided ivy haswell seems to be smaller margin but its early days

Don't install any, just let windows take care of it,you might just need the lan driver off the mb cd

That's all I did. Just the LAN driver then everything else from Gigabyte's website. Using the Z87X-UD3H here and not had any problems. Had one BSOD but that was with using my old OS install. So far so good. Keep persevering bud!:)

no issues here either with a D3hp or whatever its called.

Did have a problem with the board wanting to boot my cddrive no matter what and the only way to load windows was to press F12 and select the boot device manually
then I found out the cdrom BBS settings override the HDD boot order

Yeah pretty impressed with this little board so far. Not had any issues with it and already clocked upto 4.8GHz on 1.26V (CPU-Z).

You make the jump from x58 then mate? Iirc, you had a pretty good clocking 920.

Afraid so. Gave in to the itch.:( feels nice to have a play with some new tech. Dismantled the old girl today, genuinely sad to see the 920 go. Had one last play with overclocking this afternoon and still very impressed with it and got it rock stable at 4GHz at just 1.24V!

Got my sniper m5 and 4670k in but too tired to install software tonight. It was a PITA though due to keeping my old cooler and Storm Scout case for now. The 8 pin cpu socket is so tight against the top fan I had to take the motherboard out to attach.

Then it turns out the mounting bracket for Fenrir Evo won't fit in horizontal orientation due to the Snipers chipset cooling blocks, so I have to have the cpu fan pulling air from the bottom. That wouldn't be too bad except that places it almost flush against the back of my 560ti unless I use the 8x slot, even then it will suck the heat off the rear of the gpu.

I think my bed is calling me and I will see how it runs tomorrow before I tell my wife I might just want sn extra item afterall :D
