*****Official Ivybridge Review Thread*****

Just to clarify, is it possible to strap a SandyBridge CPU, into a Z77 motherboard, then run 3 monitors off that?

I won't be using it for games, but I do like the desktop space.

Ah, probably not SB iGPU's. I think that triple-monitor support is a feature of Ivy Bridge iGPU's+Z77 only.

Came across these charts in the Vortez review and came across these two charts.

IIRC, the main difference between i5 and i7 is HyperThreading, which seem to be giving BF3 a significant boost as shown above.

Will we be seeing this more often? Wanna know if I should get an i7 instead

EDIT: Just noticed the 2500k score in BF3, that seems kinda weird?

Well I cannot see why the 3770k would beat the 3570k by such a large amount, the game is more gpu than cpu, from a review I seen the 3570k matched the 3770k in BF3

Edit, maybe not, this review only showed the 3570k at stock and over clocked http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/asus_maximus_v_gene_review,17.html.

It is still confusing me though as the over clocked score is getting no better fps yet the review above is at least a third faster using a 3770k:confused:

Isnt this review one of the few to use retail parts? So if we cant depend on it either we aren't any wiser this evening despite the huge number of carefully synchronised articles.

SO DISAPPOINTED

I got x6 Phenom, because I hedged my bets with bull dozer....... FAIL

Waited 6 months for ivy... FAIL

Uggh

Ivy only makes sense with macs, as they will be stock clocked, they will indeed be faster and worthy of the mac..USB3, decent encoding, low power.

Or the only upgrade me worth doing now is sandy socket 2011, 4 core, then in a year, get a 6 core, only makes sense to me now.

Or get the cheapest possible (2500K) as in 12 months Haswell may offer a CPU as well as GFX boost which would be mighty tempting but you would have to be rid of the 1155 m/b as well.

It's just that I struggle with the idea of paying nearly 50% more for i7 (discounted SB or expected IB it's just the same).
Surely the 2500K was the big seller last year? No doubt the 35xx and 37xx are from the same wafer so the profit margin must be greater on i7.
Hmm lots of 37xx reviews today...

Noooo.... didn't see that comming! My lovely Black Z77 isn't even here yet and its only got a year to live :( more research next time!

This is the problem I'm having.. I can't justify spending so much more.

This is absolutley brilliant! :)

*Strokes his 2500K @ 4.9GHz* no way am I getting Ivybridge now, save myself probally £60! :D

Stop stroking it! Get a grip and realise you REALLY want it... :D BTW I'm in the market for a quality second hand 2500K :p

lol! I am looking forward to tomorrow now when my new graphics card, ssd, 120Hz screen arrive, will see how well or not Z77 clocks this 2500K - hope it does 5GHz on Air! :D

Seriously though, I am quite confident Intel will release a new revision come June/July depending on how quick they get rid of E1 revision stock, well I hope so anyway as I was looking forward to playing with Ivybridge - not anymore... :(

I'd be VERY interested in that result! As I can't justify a Core 2600K atm - I'm waiting for my Asrock and looking at a 2500K with Corsair H80 and uprated AP-15 fans to lower the noise!!!!!! :p

i dont think so - they've had long enough to get to E1.
There will be different models, i3 obviously, and S and T lower TDP parts are all planned and listed - which might be better for us on ITX and where IB may shine.
Also more tightly binned i7 parts amybe 100Mhz diff like 2700 vs 2600.
