With Chelsea having their transfer embargo lifted and a number of other teams having disruption due to the African Cup of Nations in January, what can we expect in the upcoming transfer window.

Keep all rumours, speculation and sightings in this thread

Richard Wood >> Sheffield United.

Grrr.

Currently in contract talks, Wednesday can't afford how much he wants, and apparenlty the other team in the City are after him.

Aye, possibly but as history has shown with other clubs, money may buy them success but it certainly won't by them class or the history and heritage they so desperately crave.

Rumours have persisted that Robhiniho wants out and siddy are just waiting for Barca to agree terms for the deal to go through.

I think this window will be interesting in that it's a world cup year. Bar Chelsea and Siddy none of the top managers will want to pay over inflated prices in the summer.

If Atletico bomb out of Europe, will Aguero be on his way to Chelsea and will Utd go back in for Silva and Villa

Robinho to Barcelona and a new manager at City.

Probably see a cheap striker come in at Liverpool for around 1.5-2 million after the Americans take 'their cut' of the money we receive for Dossena and any other players we sell.

Wooh! So apparently:

Barcelona are lining up an £85m summer bid for Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney - and believe the Old Trafford club's huge debts mean they would consider the offer.

In serious news, I fully expect Fergie to sign no-one. I'd like to see something from Villa, Silva, Di Maria heading OT way.

I saw in the paper (my grandad reads the times) that United / Chelsea / City are in for Di Maria "the 20 million rated youngster" :/

Great. That means Kilgallon is off out then. When will they learn that replacing someone with someone that isn't as good is no use whatsoever?

Moyes has said himself he doubts we will sign anyone in January.

*sigh

Won't be in the top 6 this season, ****ing Kenwright, watch this space my eye!

Rumour has it Spurs have agreed a deal to sign George Boyd from Peterborough United. Now idea why we want to sign him though??

This.

We need someone in the Van Nistelrooy vein when he was at OT. I also think we need a really good attacking midfielder, and to offload some of the dead/dying wood in that position.

Beyond that i'm happy - yeah we lost to Liverpool and Chelsea but I still don't see massive cause for concern, defence is a bit off-form but that will return and we have plenty of cover.

A few Newcastle players have been linked with moves. Luckily our best players (i.e. the likes of Carroll and Enrique) have said time and time again they want to stay, although we've heard that before...

As for any incoming transfers...:D

I got to admit my ignorance of him up until I saw him tear Everton a new one in the Europa League in the away game. Reminded me a lot of how (Portugese) Ronaldo played against us for Sporting Lisbon before we signed him.

I think that we need to look at central midfield as something is not clicking for us at the moment. Anderson and Fletcher are all very industrious in there own right, then you add Hargreaves into the mix. We are lacking some creativity to dictate the pace of our game at the moment. Whether that comes from DeMaria or another player remains to be seen.

All positions will be rumoured about for Arsenal. Almunia while good isn't amazing and none of our keepers are.

We need proper CB cover, Song should if playing be in midfield. Silvestre and Senderos aren't good enough.

We'll also be linked with anybody that's a DM. Players going forward are fine and once all back we'll have a lot of options. While Song's been getting better as the games have gone on he still I reckon is the best of a very average/poor bunch. It's also a quite a specialised position, somebody senior there would be really helpful.

I don't expect us to be linked with a striker, we have lots of forwards and strikers and seemingly play just the one these days at times.

So all in all, a youth player or two will be loaned out. And a new "hot young" forward will be gotten from another side.

Anyone see the rumour in the Daily Mail this morning that Fergie wants Carlton Cole for 20m this January? :/

Where do they get these from, seriously?

He is playing well so far this season, and had a very good last season. But, after all the crap seasons he's had, he really needs to do more than 1 and a bit good seasons to be worth anywhere near that.

Maybe Sufc can buy him? I heard West Ham are in need of money, and we happen to have a chunk of theirs! :p

I'm glad we have someone in charge like kenwright. I'd rather we carry on treading water than end up in unmanageable debt. The longer we can stay that way the better placed we are to find some one to hand over money.

We don't actually need to sign anyone. We just need half the players we do have to be fit. A rightback would be nice so Hibbert can be launched into orbit.

No doubt we will get Gary ****ing Neville as part payment for Rodwell

Daily Mail has an incredible 23% accuracy on its rumours, which suggests the information is certainly not gathered from the club itself :p

<3 this page for showing just how *awful* the papers are at transfer rumours :p

i.e. gotta love the NOTW 'scattergun' approach to rumours:
