** Official ** January 2010 Transfer Thread- Rumours & Speculation in here

Dzeko is an excellent player. I have watched him play a few times in the German league. He is supposedly wanting a move to AC Milan though :(

That's got to be bullcrap? I thought we'd already signed him and he was out on loan

Tosic has flopped?? In what way? He didn't get a hat trick in the 9 minutes Fergie gave him yesterday?

Sounds like we had an agreement to sign him this Jan built into the deal to sign Tosic nearly a year ago (I have to admit to thinking exactly the same as you did, but with the wide reports that Utd have pulled out not being denied by the club I think its pretty likely to be true - on top of that the decent display from Gibson the other night - who plays in the same position, why spend £10m when you dont have to?)

I wouldnt say Tosic has amazed given his age and how long he has been at the club, looks like he is playing well for the reserves but given that Obertan has had chances already - maybe Tosic just cant make that final step to the 1st squad

how Fergie can judge him without seeing him play in the first team? I'd have thought Fergie would have given him a chance.

By seeing him in training every day - which doesnt even come with the pressure associated with 1st team games

Could end up like that African striker Utd had a couple of seasons ago - went out on loan as soon as we bought him, had a couple of games never to be seen again

Tosic has really been impressing in the reserves though :(

I wonder how much this 'change of heart' is costing us. I also wonder if Fergie will go for other targets in January.

I think he's underrated by a lot of people, he's always looked a handful when I've seen him play on TV. He's something different to what Arsenal already have and as you say, under Wenger's wing he'll always improve.

I've read somewhere he scores most of his goals with headers, any truth in that?

He does score a few headers, but not limited to that - he looks pretty versatile to me but definitely offers something Arsenal don't have already.

Arsenal NEED somebody who can head the ball, so I imagine there will be 300 rumours over the next 2 months all about strikers over 6ft.

He's more of a presence than RvP, Eduardo and Vela and a miles better player than Bender.

They need more than just a striker though imo.

I'm really not sure that Arsene can get much better than Eduardo/Vela/Walcott/Arshavin/Bender without spending £20m+ which I doubt he has any intention of doing seeing as RvP will be back in half a season. Unless he's planning on selling Arsh this summer which I would support

 Really?

While that may be true - Fergie rarely gets it wrong (once a player is actually at OT).

Obviously there are notable exceptions that impress in other leagies (Forlan and Veron for example) - but still a big step from playing against unfit or perma subs/youth players to live EPL games, who knows maybe he will get lots of games in the coming few months, but if he doesnt I cant see him lasting beyond the summer (as he is already 22 I believe)

It was only an option to sign - so I doubt it will cost anything

I would love SAF to bring in a few (a goalie and an out and out striker to start with) but given WC think prices will be too high

Akinfeev + Dzeko please in Jan Fergie.

Long term replacement for Van Der Sar, and another option up top.

It all depends on how much Tosic cost, anyone know?

I agree on the striker but I just don't know about the GK. We have 3 GK's that most of the teams in the Premiership would kill for. PIG has done brilliantly in his last 2 matches and Foster is a good GK. Surely if we bought someone else then we'd have to sell both those two?

The thing is do we need Krasic? Surely if Fergie didn't want Ljajic because we have youngsters coming through in that position then he won't want Krasic either?

Why would United buy Krasic if we have good youth?

I think Akinfeev would be a good buy, as Van Der Sar only has this season left in him.
PIG is a great number two, and I'm still not sure what to think of Foster, he's had a handful of bad games but they're outweighed by the good games he's had.

Aye, consistently one of the worst performers on the field every week and it makes business sense to sell him before his value plummets. He is the laziest player in the squad and as he gets older he isn't going to start trying more
