*** Official Kinect Thread ***

I doubt there will be a price drop until late next year as it looks like Kinect as already got a fairly good install base for developers to take the risk on. As for games there are a few games coming out this week in the US (mainly fitness games) and a few titles will be out early next year (Child of Eden) but there isn't really any killer announcements as of yet.

If sales continue to do pretty well expect a major amount of announcements at E3 including Haloz Kinect etc.

It is only 2 player and you can't use 2 Kinects as the IR sensor would be mighty confused :p But many games do advertise having other players just out of the cameras line of sight following the on screen action so the can be involved.

Hey, I have been looking into this and so has the girlfriend for the flat. I just have a couple of questions. :D

Will this take off or die? Mainly due to the competition. This is because my girlfriend is thinking of getting rid of her wii and we get this for my console as some of the games look a bit better.

I think it will be gathering dust by next spring/summer. Like the Wii the novelty soon wears off the active/motion games. Luckily the wii has titles like mario bros, mario kart, goldeneye, mario galaxy etc that hold it up.

Personally I think the Wii is very dated tech now in comparison to the xbox 360/Kinect.

I think this will be massively popular tbh and far from gathering dust.

Waiting for my bundle to arrive Friday. Also orderd Kinect Sports & Dance Central. Can't wait!:D

Not quite sure I am understanding the point, but I guess the 360 also has a motherload of quality non-activity games you can play if/when the Kinect novelty wears off? Granted the games use a normal controller, but we are talking about getting fed up of motion games here?

Kinect is more like a separate console - price wise anyway.

Picked this up yesterday, its amazing! Knocks the Wii & PS Move out of the water IMO!

One question though, am I the only one who thinks half the stuff MS said it could do...it can't? (obviously its only just launched). But I remember MS saying you could turn your XBOX on/off, it would turn on with you just saying XBOX etc? When another profile member steps in the room it should sign them in? Or am I being blind and you can do this?

Yes i just think people will get bored, novelty wears off and they go back to using xbox for black ops etc

I don't think they said anything about turning it on and off but the signing in bit it is supposed to do. (Presumably after you've got through some sort of initial recognition setup process.)
