I can't see the images as works firewall blocks most things. So if it is Openelec, you are logging is to the device as root / openelec ?
Hi,
I just got myself a Hp Proliant Gen8 and I was hoping to run kodi on it.
I need a bit of guidance really.
I installed Ubuntu and installed Kodi but it seems it can't load the GUI and I've read conflicting things about whether or not I need to add a gpu to the system.
I updated kodi to the latest and also my graphics card drivers. Since I did that Ive had nothing but problems either I couldn't get full surround or I got crashing.
I updated to windows 10 and still had problems this time with regards to hardware decoding. It would somtimes work and other times it would crash straight away.
I have spent the past month trying to sort it out.
Last night I decided to try openecle and 45 minutes later my htpc was up and running with all my movies and tv shows.
I've not had one issue and the best thing is that 24hz refresh actually works now unlike before on windows where it has never worked properly.
My only gripe is that scrolling through all the movies and tv shows isn't as smooth as it was before but I usually use my phone to browse my videos anyway.
I admit at first I was worried because when I first tried a Linux build of xbmc a couple of years ago I couldn't get access to all my videos as they are on a Windows server and due to the permissions i would always get access not granted messages
try openelec
you can install it and run it from a usb stck, saves messing with your current setup
I tried a build openelec, it said that it couldn't start and to check the hardware requirements, is there a specific build you could suggest?
This is what brought me to ask whether you need a discreet GPU, as I've read conflicting things.
server specs (proliant is a generic hp term for server, model?)?
Installer wouldn't start, or it was installed and wouldn't start?
Does it have an iLo card installed?
looks like you'll need one of these
