*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

Does anyone know if there is a way to add a way to jump directly from an episode in the 'recently added' lost to the series? As I can't tell from the list how far I've watched through the series I end up having to back out of the recently added list and then navigate into the series itself to see how far through I have got.

Edit: I found a way to do it. I created a Smart Playlist to show all shows (rather than individual episodes) that have a date added date less than 10 days ago and contain unwatched items, and changed my home screen shortcut for Recently Added to use this Playlist instead.

On a side note, I'm loving the Arctic: Zephyr skin. Cut right down to a super clean Movies, TV and Settings home screen.

Are you connecting via 5ghz? Try a 2.4ghz network and see if the same issue occurs (disable 5ghz on your router as a test).

Which USB wifi adapter are you using? Can you try another? There are tons of different adapters, they sometimes need to add code to support newer ones (even ones that look identical, one can work, but a newer one won't until added)

2.4ghz my ap doesn't do 5. It's the intel mini pcie card for the nuc, it never used to do this prior to the upgrade.

Thanks

Just stuck the latest nightly build of Jarvis onto my shied tv and it's running very nicely now . Screen refresh sorted. Also managed to get the live tv working using the spare hd free view thumbs tick in had

schismtv build is fantastic.

live tv uses the ivue guide and original iptv streams.

thoroughly recommend it

Can you download Schism TV as an apk like wookie or Kodi or do you download it through elsewhere?

What does everyones first TV stick show as available space in the manage apps section? When I installed TVMC or Kodi (Can't remember which) I restored the Fire TV Stick to factory settings without first removing the app. So once restored, It now shows as having 4.4GB of free space out of 5.6GB. I've read that doing the factory reset doesn't remove all stuff so curious as to how to get it back.

One of the addons i used had changed and needed the ares wizard to install a new version, instead of just installing the addon with it i installed a whole 'build' and it's wiped out my watched flags and pretty much everything custom i had on MQ6. Anyone know if there's a way to get them back?

It did ask me something that i think was about backup but i wasn't really paying attention as i thought i was just installing an addon, i think i said yes but god knows where it is if i did.

Tried the schism add-on. Looks nice and easy to use but half the links wouldn't work. Kept asking me to update Zeus but couldn't find a way to do it. I also read Zeus had stopped updating for the requirement I needed (IPTV).

Another thing, when selecting a channel in the IPTV and the link was dead, it would not allow me to change link instead opting to just give a repeated error.

I know - this will have been asked a hundred times before but I'm looking for recommendations on buying a box with a budget of about £50 Max. I'm after a plug and play solution as I'm not that fussed about mucking about with installing different builds. Doesn't need to be 4k as my LG LN575 is only 1080p.

Ta in advance.

Did you find one? What do you play to do with it? Stream from a NAS? Or just use Netflix etc?

I'd like to know the same thing.

Had previously been using an Xbox 360 in the bedroom for streaming and Netflix etc., but it's gone and red ringed on me.

Time to swap it for a box instead.

So, budget ~ £50, must have wifi built in (n preferably), support Netflix and streaming from file server (not fussed on whether it's SMB, Plex or whatever) with native h.264 support.

Any recommendations? Thought about just going for the Fire Stick as I do have Amazon Prime so can make the most of that, but I wasn't sure if any of the other Android boxes were more worth a look?

Cheers, folks! :)

M8S

Funny you mention that. At the moment it's a toss-up between going with the M8S or a Fire TV Stick with Kodi sideloaded.

Though the number of "failure" reviews on Amazon for the M8S worry me... I get the impression that (like cheaper Android tablets) it's a bargain Chinese job that's likely to pack in before you know it.

Is your experience with it better than that?

I got my Google Nexus player for £50. It is running on andriod 6.0.1 marshmallow and has a quad core intel atom cpu. Kodi does not need to be sideloaded as you can just download it straight from the play store. been using 'the beast v1.4' with no problems so far but might try a few other programs from ares wizard. Only thing with the nexus player is it only has 1 x USB and even that is a micro usb connection but I don't need any more.

I bought the Amazon Fire 4K for £65 and it's worth every penny. Kodi works flawlessly and vey quick, can't recommend it enough.

Hmmmmmmmm.............. A sad day for me too ... I think I'll be decommissioning my xbmc/kodi server after many years of perfect service in favour of something shiny and new......

I bought the nvidia shield remote + controller package.

Now to work out what the best remote to go with it would be

// edit Woah HTPC is now almost 5 years old :o

Me too, I looked around, £65 for the Amazon Fire 4K is the best bang for buck.

It might not have the raw power of the Shield but i don't play games on it. It also needs to have a small footprint which this does so it was between this and the ATV4. The ATV4 is just too expensive, twice as much, and even though i am heavily invested in to the Apple Ecosystem, with all their other stuff, I just can't bring myself to do it.

The Amazon Prime video is the icing not the cake, I was going to run Plex and Kodi became the clincher and cherry on top.

I have also put in a 32G SD card inside so it should never run out of room.

Where'd you find it for £65?
