*** Official Kodi (née XBMC) Thread ***

I've got a BlackGold BGT3620 dual-HD Freeview tuner card, which has been in my server with Argus-TV for the last few months, and it's working great.
How well does XBMC work with ArgusTV now? Is it still missing the scheduling options in the GUI, because if that's finally available I might try switching from MediaPortal again.

Can anyone help with this annoying problem...

Setup:

Acer Revo
XBMC Frodo
WD MyBookLive 3TB NAS

As most may know, the Acer Revo can only go to sleep rather than be turned off completely via remote. On the majority of occassions when I wake it up and browse my library, hit play, XBMC tells me it cannot find the movie and should it remove from library. Clearly this is because my NAS has also gone to sleep. My work around so far as just been to reboot the Acer which then lets me play my library.

Thinking this was all about it sending a packet to the NAS to wake it, I installed WakeOnLan and have it to send a wake packet to the NAS on wake from sleep. I also have it setup on the main menu to wake manually. However, despite the notification telling me the NAS is awake - XBMC still tells me it cannot play the file - so I'm still left with having to reboot the system from the shutdown menu rather than it simply waking from sleep and being fully operable.

Any ideas?

As of 12.2, no scheduling options in the GUI. I can't remember seeing anything in the Gotham alpha release notes so far about any PVR stuff either.

Just picked up a Nexus 7, so far i'm a bit dissapointed with Yatse. Compared to XBMC commander on the ipad it just doesnt seem anywhere near as user friendly.

Are there any other alternatives to consider?

Does anyone know how to set your own background picture within openElec???

I've downloaded a picture I want to use but cant seem to find any way to select it as the background!?!?!

Yatse keeps changing it's format which is annoying but I'm surprised that you were disappointed with it.

Nothing beats a good old fashioned IR remote though :)

Anyone have a solution for keeping XBMC full screen when the resolution changes? I will embellish on my scenario:

I have my HTPC connected to my AVR (Yamaha RX-V765) which is connected to my telly. When I turn everything off and later on turn it on again sometimes its as if the screen is detected briefly in 640x480 and then bumps itself up to 1080p (I guess it's the telly and htpc/avr handshaking?). The problem with XBMC is that it then displays itself in 1/4 of the screen. I have to exit it and go back in again. This is on Win7.

If setting XBMC as the shell is the solution then I will just have to live with it I guess. Thank's for your help.

If it happens all the time, would launch XBMC from batch file, that then waits for 30 seconds then kills xbmc then relaunches it.

Its not a pretty way of doing it, but would get round your issue as described.

There is an official XBMC android app, but I found Yatse better. Did you find the library section?

If you're on the homepage of Yatse with the menu buttons etc, swipe the screen in from the left and on that menu you have the bits for TV Shows/Movies. You can then find things to play from that, I use that almost exclusively.

I wouldn't be so sure of this being the reason to be honest!

I've got openElec running on my Intel NUC and whilst I use my TV remote and a CEC adapter to wake from "suspend" mode, mine quite often "loses" the network connection to my Synology NAS and thinks all of my media has been removed!
The thing is, my NAS isn't asleep as I'm constantly using other gadgets to access it!

I've just put it down to an anomaly in the XBMC configuration!?!?!

im looking to give xbmc another try possibly..
live tv support is still essential for me (even if the 'live tv' button boots into the guide of WMC)

everything is on a server except for the live tv card (due to aerial cable)
id need support for
music videos and the ability to scrape
music
Blur ray mkvs

one reason i gave up before was the customization aspect.. is there a good place to just see a whole range of peoples themes/setups?

Live TV still isn't there in my opinion, I tend to have an option that launches WMC to Live TV, there an addon that does it as well I belive.

Everything can be server based
Music videos there will be an addon for
If you mean ability to scrape your movie/tv files then it will do that automatically for you but save yourself some pain and read the guides and get your media in a decent state first.
Music works
Bluray mkv's work without issue

I've had a bit of another play and it seems to be getting better, i suppose theres just so many functions it can be tricky to get your head around it at first.

Is there a help guide anywhere as to what the various buttons on the front screen do? I've guessed at a few but others still seem odd. I was also sure that a ticked the box in the settings to remove the pictures/music icon from the left toolbar but they're still there.

Still doesn't quite seem as polished as XBMC commander though.

I haven't found a way to mark things as watched from the library view yet with Yatse, anyone else managed it? If I hover over a film for example there is a button that appears at the top left of the screen that has a tickbox icon and says the word "Done" in caps.

Hitting that button doesn't seem to do anything though, I have to go into the movie info and then hit the watched menu icon and then it marks it as watched.

This happens for me too. You just need to press "alt+enter" twice and it'll be back to the way it should be.
