***Official Left 4 Dead 2 Thread***

lol really? I'm getting DSL for the new house instead of getting some people xmas pressies :p

That's quite dedicated. However, I get keys to my new house on the 11th December and won't be moving in until that weekend.

Have broadband + phone line being installed on the 12th :D I should receive minimal downtime, except lack of zombie killing due to the whole "moving" scenario :(

/facepalm - Antar that was both good and truly terrible :D

LinkTart 1 and 2 are the only ones that have changed (Link said he was going to update it but seems to have forgotten). If you still need it when i get home i'll post it.

If there's a free slot of an expert campaign then I'd like to join in! need to get those achievements up, only have one so far -_-

This post on LinkTart has all the IPs I think:

http://linktart.co.uk

You're better off just using the search key though - "sv_search_key ocuk" will dump you onto one of the servers :)

Aye, I've been using this recently and it hasn't failed me, instant server find and game on!

Although when they are all full it sits and waits 30 seconds before sending you into a localhost game.

So annoying that it does that, at least L4D used to ask you before going localhost!

Added!

I will be free from around 9PM on the dot methinks =]

Idling on vent as usual too with the rest of the peeps

We have spare server capacity atm so we could probably get a few more up and running sometime if the main L4D2 servers are full a lot :)

I've hardly played L4D2 due to my crashing problems. Hopefully a patch will come out one day...

I've not read all your posts, but have you tried:-

1. Examining the Application & Event Logs?
2. Running the trace on the L4D2 process using a third party application (can't remember the name right now)
3. Tried running -novid?
4. What O/S?
5. GFX?
6. RAM?
7. Verfified game files?

As I recall, you don't even get to the menu before it crashes, does it simply return you to the desktop or crash with an error message? What is that error message?

Stay at parents/friends house and leech their BB connection, scour for WIFI hotspots, sit in a WIFI cafe/pub....the list goes on ;)

right, back from the garage, just having something to eat will be up for expert realism/vs in a little bit if anyone send me an invite :)

DEfrag you up for doing swamp fever with our regualr team on expert realism today?

I think it's just that and parish we have left isn't it?

I've not tried all those options (but about a million others not on that list :p ) so I'll give the remaining ones a try to see what happens.

4. Win7 (have tried a reinstall of this)
5. 4870x2 (tried 9.7-9.11 cats)
6. 4GB of underclocked ram. Will try playing with this more.
7. Game files verified and even deleted+redownloaded. Same with Steam itself.

I've also tried playing with file permissions and -windowed and -sw...zero luck so far.

The irritating thing is that it used to work for the most part but crash a level or two in...now it exits the moment the intro video finishes.

Thanks for the suggestions - I'll try them and post my results here :)

Yeah, i'll be up for that. I still need Hard Rain - then i will have completed all campaigns on Expert Realism!!! :D

Then i'll go after Saving Gnome Chompsky (as I lost that one during the latest round of achivements balls up from Valve). Then its a case of mopping up the remainder of the 'easy' achievements again.

P.s. Back at work now, so should be on from 6:30pm onwards.

You've probably already done this but have you tried setting all ram/cpu/gfx to stock and just seeing if that works?
